Look of the Day: Cut-Outs

It may not be warm enough for cut-outs just yet, but we’re definitely looking forward to the day we can show off a bit of skin. In the meantime we’re ogling rompers, dresses, and more with this fun detail.

Here are some of our favorite ways bloggers are wearing cut outs:

Current Obsession: Culottes

Culottes. Love them or hate them, we just can’t say no to a good old-fashioned styling challenge, especially when it involves a match-up with the widely forecasted “it” trouser of 2015. So take note as we break down how to wear these pants-meet-skirt pieces with ease.

White and Black Pinstripe CulottesYou’ll notice culottes have been modernized since the not-so-cute gaucho trend in the early 2000’s. They’ve been given a higher waist, pleats in front and a straighter leg. Above are Pinstripe Culottes available in stores now, $32.50.

White Maxi TunicIf layering is more your thing, then grab our Pleat-Back Maxi Tunic,$28.50, and layer away! Culottes look great with longer silhouettes cascading down them– just add heels to add some height to your look.

with a pop of redSince we’re closing in on warmer weather, I added some stripes on top in a smaller print. Tip: When you mix stripes, always make sure to wear the bigger stripe on your bottom half and the smaller stripe on top. Add a red cardigan for a pop of color and you’re all set for spring!

I will most definitely be trying this trend this year, will you? Let us know how you style your culottes in the comment section below!

Current Obsession: Clogs

Maybe it’s because the weather is swiftly getting colder and it won’t be long before it’s downright chilly, but I suddenly want a pair of clogs like I never have before. Or maybe it’s because one of the Crossroads Style Council members, Micaela of Drifter & the Gypsy, recently sported a delicious pair of brown leather Free People clogs that I’m now coveting so hard.

Check out these other lovely clogs that are dying to be worn with chunky knit sweaters and boyfriend jeans.

Current Obsession: Fawn Print

Fawn print walked down the runway this time last year and was noted by Vogue back in 2011, but it hasn’t been able to compete with mainstays like leopard, zebra and reptile. Yet, designers haven’t given up on deer–with new designs on the market just in time for this season–and neither should you.

Fawn print has a soft, warm hue that’s so perfect for fall, and the other animal prints could certainly use a rest. Don’t you think it’s time we let Bambi have the spotlight for a bit?

Current Obsession: Black & White

It can be modern or classic, but either way black & white is a killer color combo that never fails. And as I anticipate what my fall wardrobe will look like, I’m leaning heavily towards this bold look to get me through the season. Here are some of my favorite street style looks so far.

Current Obsession: Chanel Bags

House of Chanel, you can do no wrong. With each season, I look forward to seeing what your wispy models will strut down the runway in. But right now, I’ve got my eye on your handbags. So classic, so perfect, so necessary for my closet. These street style stars have set their sights on you as well; take a looksy…

Current Obsessions: Peach

Nothing says summer like peaches (peach ice cream… yummmm)–but why stop there? Shades of peach are just what your closet needs as we enter into the dog days of summer. And I’m not the only one who feels this way; check out these fab peach outfits:

Current Obsession: Tie-Front Tops

I’ve watched Dirty Dancing more times than I can count. I’m not saying that that’s the reason for my current obsession–I’m just saying that Baby had something more going for her than just her dance moves. I’m talking about tie-front tops, and you’re going to want to wear them all summer long…

Current Obsession: Mirrored Sunglasses

I’ll be the first to admit that when mirrored sunglasses started popping up on fashion bloggers’ sites, I wasn’t ready to whole-heartedly embrace this trend. But slowly, some of my favorite bloggers and celebrities–including Grasie of Style Me Grasie–have been rocking these shades, and now when I imagine what I’ll be wearing this summer (everyone does this, right?), I have mirrored sunnies on. Here’s why:

Current Obsession: Light Wash Jeans

Along with my obsession of pops of pastels, I’m currently coveting light wash jeans: skinny, boyfriend, ripped, acid washgimme.

Light wash jeans almost trick me into believing it’s spring, even thought it’s only early February, and I’m so ready for sandal weather. Oh, and gents: this trend’s for you, too.
