March 15th, 2018 by Melanie Sutrathada 6 Ways to Wear Denim

From jeans to oversized denim jackets, we’ll always have a special place for classic denim pieces in our wardrobe. If you’re in a fashion rut and want a few ideas for how to style your denim pieces, you’ve come to the right place.

Here are six different ways to wear denim this season!

denim
When it comes to styling denim skirts, keep it simple by pairing it with a white or black blouse!

Don’t be afraid to wear an oversized denim jacket as a dress. Combat the lack of coverage by dressing this outfit up with over-the-knee-boots or thigh-high socks.

Left to my own devices, I’d wear denim overalls all the time. They’re not just comfy; this statement piece has gotten a major update since you wore them last in elementary school.

The key to mixing denim on denim is to pick two pieces that are similar in shade. Or, choose blue and black denim for another failproof combination.

This denim dress ensemble looks great with a belt or a fanny pack to break up the outfit.

You can never go wrong with mixing blue denim and black denim. It’s a great casual outfit for when you’re out and running errands!

January 23rd, 2018 by Jennifer Beile 7 Pants Outfits That Will Have You Tossing Your Denim Aside

Denim will always be held close to a fashion girl’s heart. We love our denim and our denim loves us; it’s a closet staple as trends come and go. But there comes a time to experiment and step outside of the fashion box. I’ve been noticing a lot more trousers over denim on my blog roll lately, and I, for one, am all for it! I’ve been swapping out my denim for more trouser styles too. Styled with tees, sweaters, blazers, and bodysuits, trousers are a sophisticated, refreshing change to your wardrobe.

Check out these seven denim-less blogger outfits to inspire you this week!

July 14th, 2017 by Samantha Weaver DIY Pom Pom Trim: For Jewelry, Clothes, Accessories & More

BIG NEWS! The Crossroads DIY Studio is back in action!

We’ve spent most of the summer obsessed with everything and anything pom pom.  Clothing, accessories, bathing suits—you name it. If it was dripping with multi-colored pom poms, we said “take my money!” Then it dawned on us that pom pom trim accessorizing would be the perfect DIY!

What you will need:

1. Pom Pom Trim

2. Assorted sizes and colors of poms

3. Scissors

4. A ruler

5. Fabric adhesive or a glue gun

You will also need plain accessories and clothing to adorn with pom poms! Today, we’ll be adding pom poms to a pair of gold hoops, a sun hat, some red slides, jeans, a black crop top, and a bonus item!

Pom Pom Hoop Earrings

I’ve seen hoops with pom poms available for $29+, but with this simple DIY you can accomplish the look for less than $10!

You’ll need to use hoop earrings that have threaded closures, not hooks. Pick your desired color of pom pom and start threading them directly onto the earring! It’s that easy. Add one pom or five, then space as desired—either way you’ll end up with a festive pair of hoop earrings!

Sun Hat with Pom Pom Trim

Add some flare to your boring sun hat with a pom pom trim! Simply use a binder clip to hold the trim in place, then wrap the trim around the brim of your hat and glue it down as you go. Secure with another clip at the end, and cut off the excess trim. Wait 2-4 hours to dry and voila! Beach-approved headwear.

Slides with Large Pom Detail

They’re bold, they’re bright, they’re downright gaudy, and we love them.

Plug in your glue gun and grab your largest poms! Simply decide where you want to place your poms first, then just start gluing! Dry for an hour minimum.

Crop Top with Pom Pom Trim

To accomplish the perfect pom pom trim on a t-shirt or crop top, just begin as we did with the sun hat by clipping down the edge of your trim to the seam of your top. Then just glue and wrap around the hem of your top, and clip off any excess! Let adhesive glue dry for 2-4 hours.

Jeans with Pom Pom Trim

Last year, we did a DIY on frayed hem jeans, but this year we’re going full pom pom! Clip, wrap, and glue, and you’ll end up with a pair of sassy-bottomed jeans for summer! I’ve seen jeans with pom pom trim retail at $100+, but we made these for just $2.50 using jeans we already owned.

That’s a wrap! What did you think of this super easy DIY?

BONUS! Headband with Pom Pom Detail:

The options are endless with a bag of poms poms and some glue, so don’t pay for pom pom trim—do it yourself!

March 3rd, 2017 by Samantha Weaver Meet Courtney!

Please help me welcome Courtney of Pretty Little Fawn to the Crossroads Style Council! We’ve been following Courtney both on-screen and via her blog rather obsessively this year, so—needless to say—we’re a bit giddy. It’s no secret we get our fair share of denim inspiration directly from Courtney, and lately we’ve been equally mesmerized by her covetable collection of neutrals, basic tees, and killer shoes.

Denim-obsessed with a love of vintage.

While Courtney is a skinny denim enthusiast, we can only call her recent play with voluminous trouser silhouettes masterful. Her dreamy vintage-inspired style mixes richly hued pieces that play up her red hair and leave you wondering how to get an ounce of the personal style she evokes with seemingly no effort!

We are so excited to welcome Courtney on board and can’t wait to see her style diary evolve with Crossroads!

March 1st, 2017 by Melanie Sutrathada 6 Style Tips for Wearing Frayed Hems

Gone are the days when skinny jeans and boyfriend jeans were the only denim staples you owned. If you’re looking to upgrade your wardrobe, get things rolling by adding frayed hem denim to your closet. The style options are endless!

Nail frayed hem style by trying these looks below.

frayed hems

There’s something about denim mini skirts with frayed hems that comfortingly reminds us of our middle school wardrobe. We love how tag-team bloggers Alice and Hannah of Belle and Bunty styled their skirts with button-downs to update this nostalgic trend.

P2 - Fashion Me Now

One of the best things about frayed hems is that they instantly elevate a casual shirt-and-jeans look to be fashion-forward! If you’re looking for a pair of pants that are stylish enough for Sunday brunch with your gal pals, jeans with frayed hems are the way to go.

P3 - Louise Roe

This trend is all about maximizing on the details. That being said, the thicker the fray, the better!

P4 - The Fashion Cuisine

Nothing is more now than a pair of black denim jeans with frayed hems. Step your fashion game up a notch by donning them with black loafers, glasses and a hat.

P5 - The Girl From Panama

Try this trend with over-sized outerwear for an easy, cozy look. Frayed hem jeans peek out alluringly beneath a long cardigan or coat.

P6 - 9 to 5 Chic

Create a sophisticated look that isn’t too over-the-top by styling this type of denim with a minimalist blouse.
