The Crossroads effect is defined by a slow take over of your closet. It usually starts with just a few items you purchased outright arriving to the interior of your closet. They get comfortable and you’re comfortable with the prices. Then you discover how awesome and easy trading can be. Slowly, your closet develops a revolving door – items are consistently moving in and out. You always have something that is new (at least to you), and if you play your cards right, you rarely have to pay for it.
But everyone has that favorite find they’ll never trade back. It’s much like shutting the door on the recycling loop and saying “Nope, this one stays here.” All of our employees are crazy Crossroads fans, and some like myself even came over to the bright side long before working here. Realizing every person has their own version of my beloved Gucci clutch, I e-mailed my buds here at Crossroads asking them the question, “What is your favorite find?” The results were interesting…and visually stimulating. Amber, are you sure you’re not going to trade that Coach bag back?
Gina, Marketing Communications Manager: It’s tough to feel glam as a new mom, but my favorite CTC accessories are the perfect distraction from the baby food in my hair. All of these came from the new section.
Jason, Corporate Buying Assistant/Master of the Universe: My entire outfit is from Crossroads! Each item I purchased was under $25 and I bought them from different stores I have worked. The jacket I have had for the longest. I bought it from the Market St. store, and it was only $14 – best deal ever! I have been wearing it for the past 5 years, and I don’t plan on stopping.
Sarah, Social Media Coordinator (me!): Off the top of my head, my favorite Crossroads find is the piece that began my vintage Gucci obsession – a vintage Gucci clutch I purchased from Shattuck Crossroads for under $30 when I was still a student at UC Berkeley. The rest? A vintage Trifari necklace I wear pretty much every other day, and a pair of showstopping Ramon Tenza heels I got from Crossroads in Oakland. Come summer, I will wear all at once.
Erin, Marketing Director: It’s the perfect black clutch, and it goes with everything. Never going back!
Amber, Communications Coordinator: My Michael Kors trench coat is a classic, and I can keep it forever. I love that it has a detachable liner, too.
Orion, Corporate Buyer: Having loved Ferragamo shoes for years, I was thrilled to find this Ferragamo bag when we went to help open the Santa Barbara store last year!
Amber, Communications Coordinator: On my last day working in a store, a woman brought in this bag to sell. I loved it, and even though she’d forgotten the long strap at home, I wanted it! She knew it was my last day there, so she went home and brought me the strap that same night. Such a nice thing to do!
