April 11th, 2016 by Melanie Sutrathada 4 Gorgeous Festival Hairstyles

Festival season is officially upon us, and whether you’re headed to Coachella or watching from home, you’ll want a hairstyle that’s both gorgeous and functional. Chances are, you’ll be dancing and sweating up a storm, so effortless beauty is a must when considering festival hairstyles!

Here are my favorite ways to style your hair for the season’s music festivals.

1. The Messy Braidfestival hairstyles
Throw together a traditional French braid and gently loosen up your strands before securing your ‘do with a clear elastic. For extra texture, spray a dry shampoo into your roots and massage it in with your fingers. This is one of my favorite styles to master for a long weekend!

2. The Half Updofestival hairstyles
Feature full waves and tons of volume while keeping your hair out of your face by pulling the top half of your hair back.

3. The Milkmaid BraidP3-Milkmaid-Braid

Looking to keep your hair off your face and your neck? The milkmaid braid is perfect for sweaty weather.

4. The TopknotP4-Top-Knot
Go uber chic and sophisticated with a sleek bun at the very top of your head, or go relaxed and effortless with a loose and messy topknot. Either way, you can’t go wrong!

March 11th, 2016 by Samantha Weaver Coming Soon: Red Accessories

There’s really no better accessory than a bright red lip. But where else can we add a pop of red to our fashion routine this season? We’ve just stocked up on our favorite hue, and we’re running through the best ways to wear red accessories—from bags to jewelry to makeup!

A red bag is an easy way to add some color to any look. Red Duffle Backpack ($27.50).

We’re also seeing jewelry with red stones and beads for summer. Coming soon: Silver and Red Multi-strand Necklace and Beaded Gold Bar Necklace.

Bright red is even popping up in the beauty world. Love this use of red eyeliner!

Try a classic red bandana with a twist! Our Bandana Headband ($9.50) is pre-knotted so it’s ready to wear—just pull it on and adjust the wire-ends!

A red shoe is always a good thing.

I’m also pretty obsessed with our Coral Paper Hat ($20). It’s an update to your classic summer hat but with an added pop of color! And the brim is lined with wire so you can form it to any silhouette you please.

All items will be available at Crossroads this coming week.

January 29th, by Samantha Weaver Style Breakdown: Grace Coddington

By now you’ve probably heard the reports that Grace Coddington is stepping down as creative director of Vogue.

Fear not, Vogue diehards! Grace—and her signature red hair—will remain at Vogue as creative director at large. In the meanwhile, she’s devoting more time to projects like the upcoming film adaptation of her personal memoir Grace, and her fragrance collaboration with Comme des Garcons.

Even at 74, Coddington has added yet another title to her long list of accomplishments: style icon. Grace’s styling days may be slowing down at Vogue, but her personal style hasn’t lost any steam. You too can stand out like Grace using these four rules.

1. It’s all about the hairDon’t go running out to your colorist in hopes of matching Grace’s iconic coif. Do take a note from Grace: if and when you find a cut or color that suits you, STICK WITH IT.

2. Black is all you need to be chic.  Sometimes Grace adds a white button-down, but generally her looks begin with all black.

3. Add on bright accessories. This one’s a fashion no-brainer. Adding a pop of color is always a good thing.

4. Cats are cool. Cats are becoming as important to fashion (at least on Instagram) as this season’s must-have bag. Grace is a self-proclaimed Cat Lady but who can fault her? She also is the creator of Catwalk Cats, an illustration series—which may be turned into an animated film!

I can’t wait to see what the amazing Grace will do next!

Whenever summer rolls around, I get the urge to chop off my hair (which I did!) and try some new hair styles. Summer comes with a carefree attitude and your hair can absolutely be a part of that. If you’re having a bit of a bad hair moment, take a look at my favorite summer hair styles for
some inspiration!

Braids

Braids are effortlessly beautiful and can be worn polished, messy, up or down to add fun to any look.

Lob: the long bob

Yes, the lob is still having a moment and summer is the perfect time to cut a bit of length if you’ve been thinking about it. It’s just hair; it will grow back! But after after a lob, you may not want it to!

A ponytail is so classic, simple and chic, and versatile enough to transition from your day to night look.

The top knot will always be in style; we all need something when we’re in a hurry or haven’t washed our hair, but the half up top knot is starting to steal it’s thunder.
