Editorial Award: Best Place to Get $200 Denim for $25

There's getting lucky in love, and there's getting lucky in shopping. Sometimes I can't decide which is better, as I might not get to try the man on again, but I can wear my perfect, "new" pencil skirt from Crossroads every day. Premium denim can make you feel like a million bucks, but if you only have $50 to spend, all you need to do is scan the upper perimeter of the Broadway secondhand boutique's wall on a weekly basis. I recently pulled down a Paige skirt (retail: $198) in my size (which isn't 0) and bagged it (for $27.50). Seven, Diesel, Citizens—you name the brand and it's likely to be there. Buffalo Exchange in the U District (where I snagged a $230 Trina Turk dress for $30) offers much of the same, but you'll never pay $60 for anything at the uniformly more reliable Crossroads. Use the extra dough to buy a pairing for your pants. Scores I've found: a BCBG halter, silk blouses from Bebe and White House/Black Market, and brocade Steve Madden heels, each under $15. Oh, yeah. This is the spot. —Rachel Shimp
