2008 Fall Trend Report by Emma Covington
Once
again the weather is cooling and the leaves are changing color…yep, it’s time
for FALL! A change in season gives
everyone an opportunity to update their look; here are a few fall 2008 trends
you’ll want to keep an eye out for!
All fashions from Crossroads on Newport Blvd in Costa Mesa. |
Plaid, Tweed and Country Houndstooth
Plaid, tweed and country houndstooth are
oh so proper this season. Brit- inspired
classic country items such as feminine plaids, timeless tweeds and traditional houndstooth
are geared toward keeping you warm and looking fabulous. Don’t go too big with
this look. Wear your favorite riding
boots again, say yes to a plaid shirt, or add a bit of leather detail!

Jewel Tones
Jewel tones reign this fall as an
absolute must-have. Look for items in rich
colors like emerald, ruby and amethyst. Gemstone colors are especially
flattering in eveningwear; however, adding these colors to your everyday
wardrobe is a great look as well. Pair your gem-inspired attire with jewel tone
tights and heels and remember: unlike last fall, mismatching your shoes and
tights will let everyone know who’s queen.

Rock Star Boys
Men
are hard at work this fall in this season’s tough blue collar look. This look takes on a more tailored look than the early 1990’s, so warmly
embrace this “working hard for a living” look and get your hands dirty in
fitted flannel shirts and tailored dark denim. Men can dress down their look with designer sneakers or dress up their
look with an amazing pair of ankle boots.

On Andrew:
MODERN AMUSEMENT stripe top $8.50
FLANNEL $9.50
AMERICAN APPAREL slim jeans $22.50

Florals
This
year, florals aren’t just for spring
and summer. Keeping darker toned or
monochromatic florals in your wardrobe for fall is a great idea. Go with a fuller floral frock in dark purple,
russet brown or even gray, and pair it with a knit cardigan or a structured
jacket and belt!

Sequins
Divas
beware: sequins are back. Every fashionista has an opportunity to shine
in this season’s hottest trend. This
look works for both day and night, however, keep it fresh by adding a bit of
color and pairing it with basics. Dazzle
in a gold sequin dress with black tights and heels or carry a sequin clutch
with jeans and a tee for a night on the town.

Before we send you on your shopping way, we leave you with one last tip for fall: Accessories get the gloss effect. Think: glossy lips, liquid shines and watery
effects. Shinier than ever before! Cherry red, bright and rich.
Have a fun fall!
