Items of the Week: 23rd Ave Portland Crossroads

If you’re as excited about spring as I am, the weather isn’t going to stop you – chances are you’re rocking your flowy maxi skirt and open-toed heels at this very second. We’re not waiting any longer either, and while we search for the required moves for a sun-dance, maybe we can coax spring out of hibernation with a change in our color palette. While we liked and still like last year’s bolds and brights, softer winds call for softer color tones. Pastels will help us ring in the new season, and our 23rd Ave Portland team shows you how to do it without looking like an Easter-basket case.

ON DANIELLE: Elevenses blazer size 6 $22.50, Rag & Bone sweater size XS $27.50, Silence & Noise skirt size 4 $11.00, New Grandoe gloves $22.50, DV by Dolce Vita wedges (new) size 7.5 $30.00

An easy way to pare down the pastels is to pair them with some neutrals – favorite pieces you might already have in your closet. Danielle takes this ensemble up a notch by taking the colors down a notch, wearing an orange skirt and yellow top with a bone-toned blazer and nude heels.

ON MEGAN: Moulinette Souers dress size 10 $27.50, Iris Black vest size S $10.00, Steven booties size 7.5 $22.50

If you’re the kind of girl that thinks pastels are better reserved for the likes of Little Bo Peep, I dare you to try a sweet pastel frock with some black leather. This is a clever example of mixology gone great. Megan finishes off her outfit with a black bow around her waist, creating a perfect mish mash of the girl next door meets that girl with the band.

ON MITCHELL: 4You leather bomber size L $47.50, Paul Frank button down size M $16.50, Ermenegildo Zegna wool sweater size M $16.50, In Add Minus trousers size 32 $32.50, Converse Jams size 8.5 $22.50

Guys, you can have some pastels too! If you’re not quite ready to delve into all the colors, we don’t blame you. Some fun shoes may be all you need to step into spring with your best foot forward. For an extra pop, try Mitchell’s popped collar, either layered  with another pastel or just a faint glimmer of it under a neutral tone. I can see the faint glimmer of spring already, just over the horizon…
