trendspotting: hiking boots

michael kors hiking boots

Four-inch stilettos, six-inch platform wedges that weigh more than a school bus…Shoes. Some are beautiful; some are beautiful and evil.

So while some runway items can stay strutting in fantasy-land, I’m thrilled this trend decided to walk into the real world. They’re very, very welcome here. And why wouldn’t they be? They’ve got a thick tread for gripping the trickiest winter streets, cushioned ankles, plus sturdy heels. Even the taller versions can be extremely comfortable to wear.

As for looks, we’ll just let these gorgeous Michael Kors boots at Lincoln Park Chicago convince you. With plenty of hardware – occasionally an extra buckle or two – hiking boots have great details and sometimes tons of attitude.

Think you’d try on a pair? Let us know! Another $25 gift certificate winner will be picked on Monday from the comment section so you could be that much closer to shoes that will love you back.

Cute and seems like they’d keep your feet real warm!

  2. Nikki says:

I’m not a huge fan on the ones with the fluff on the sides. But the bottom pair are super cute. I would for sure try on those since they have a vintagey almost Victornian feel to them. And I am sure they would look great paired with a long baby doll plaid coat and a ruffly blouse and skinny jeans

  3. Alison Mahaffey says:

They are so ugly no way would I ever put those on my feet. If I wanted the hiking boot look I would just wear hiking boots because at least I would know I would not have to deal with a heel and hurting my feet.

I like the two featured on the models. The rest are not my style. BTW — love the patterned leggings on the model with the black boots! Where can I get me a pair of those? AND the long legs to match? :)

  5. Lily says:

I love them… comfy and cute…. and warm… when I lived in Ukraine, I was too young to wear heels this high, so I only dreamed about them)))

  6. Angela says:

Not sure if I could pull these off, but I’d be willing to give it a try!

  7. Paulina says:

The ones with shearling or faux fur are so trendy, but remove those and they are so a Paulina shoe!

  9. Nicole says:

I like the hiking boot look and feel. Especially big bulky buckley boots.

  10. Tracy Fox says:

Love the high heeled hiking boot. I would definitely at least try it on probably in a style with a more architectural heel. :)

these seem to totally defeat the purpose of hiking boots?… not something I am yearning to purchase but I do like the look of them on others.

  12. Alisa Elb says:

AMAZING! love them, they look great with light wash skinny jeans and a chunky winter sweater.

  13. Vanessa says:

I totally agree. Hiking boots, they’re so hot right now, hiking boots.

  14. Jeanine says:

it’s like they’re at the crossroads (haha) of fashion and outdoorsy adventure! personally, i love the twist on gear that’s meant to take one sweat and mud and snow but instead will look extra cute as you stay inside the lodge sipping egg nog and cuddling with that someone special.

I came across this site searching for ideas on how to wear these vintage (Candie’s) hiking boots I just purchased. I wish I had known about this store during my visit to Chicago around New Years, I was staying in Bucktown!

Oh well, maybe I can check it out if I move there one day.

    great article !
