June 9, 2022 The Best App for Selling Used Clothes

The best app for selling used clothes is obviously the one that gets cash in your hands the fastest. You have gently-used, unwanted clothing staring at you. You want them out of your way now, and you want to get any money you can for them.

So the thought of photographing and creating a listing for every single piece sounds as fun as a trip to the dentist. That’s what many of the current selling apps require you to do, and that’s just the first part. You still have to communicate with potential buyers and eventually package and mail the piece.

Do you love being a customer service agent for selling your used clothes? We didn’t think so.

If you want those clothes out of your life today, and you live near one of Crossroads’ 35 store locations nationwide, you need to know about the Crossroads Trading Waitlist App.

Here’s the 17-second elevator pitch:

Can you see why we’re claiming this is the best app for selling used clothes? You can actually start the selling process from work or home, then make your way over to the store to finish the process. Crossroads buys clothing all day every day, so you have plenty of opportunities to sell during your busy week.

Did we mention you’ll walk out of the store with the cash or store credit you earn? No waiting for payouts here.

And because you can choose 50% store credit (versus 30% in cash), you have the option to shop for new-to-you pieces for your closet. It’s the best way to keep a sustainable closet and a fashion budget.

Get the app here.

June 7, 2022 Q&A with Sally of @callmeflowerchild

The very best sustainable influencers weave lifestyle inspiration with fabulous secondhand fashion looks. Cue Sally from @callmeflowerchild, who has this balance down to a tee. We just had to ask her a few questions for our ongoing influencer series.

Thank you so much for participating! Please tell us a little bit about yourself.

My name is Sally, and I’m a Mexican-Salvadoran born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I love and advocate for all things related to park access, more time outside, ethical and sustainable fashion, and changing what it means to be “outdoorsy.” You can find me sipping coffee at a cute coffee shop any time of the day, or trying to get better at cycling!

Your Instagram feed is perfect for tidbits of sustainability advice and examples. What inspired you to start it?

Ah, thank you so much! My journey on IG has been a long one. I’ve been on the platform since its start in 2012! It seems like only yesterday, but I’ve seen how much the space has grown into a platform where you can share vital information.

For a very long time on IG, we were fed or shown one narrative. We only saw one type of person represented. That’s what really made me want to share my voice and create a space that was welcoming. Where others could see themselves represented as well. Thanks to that, I was able to find community too, and I don’t know what I would do without that.

We love that you promote keeping a conscious closet. What is your best tip for someone deciding to start one?

I have 4 questions I ask when shopping for clothing that I think will help anyone:

Can I thrift it?

Depending on the budget I have, what is the best brand I can support those who care about the people and the planet?

Can I come up with 5 different outfits with this item in my closet?

Have I purchased this item before? Why don’t I still have it? Was it the color, size, or fabric?

What is the best secondhand fashion or decor piece that you’ve ever scored?

Having just moved into my own apartment for the first time ever, I’ve had soooo much fun thrifting home décor. My three favorite things are my pegboard that I painted blue, a red lamp, and a yellow bookshelf/case that I scored secondhand. I bought my red lamp 2 months before even finding a place because I knew it was a gem!

What can we expect to see more of on your Instagram feed in the future?

I definitely want to share more about my love for nature and the local parks that people can visit. I also really want to share more of my journey of getting into cycling, which comes with cute outfits!

Thank you, Sally, for taking the time to tell us more about @callmeflowerchild and your personal inspiration!

We adore what happens when beads and fashion meet! This season, we’re seeing a lot of large round beads in accessories and classic small beads in vintage tops and dresses.

Like summer, beads are fun. Plus, they can add something truly unexpected to the usual fashion pieces.

Let us show you how! Below are some inspiration photos we found on Instagram that really show off the ways to wear this summer trend.

Beaded Bags

Look for pops of color and fun patterns.

May 26, 2022 Getting Started with Fishnet Fashion

You may have seen fishnet fashion listed as a trend in our seasonal selling guide.

Some of our favorite pieces are fishnet dresses and tops worn over other pieces. But, we know the look can feel extra daring, so we encourage getting started with fishnet socks and tights first.

Fishnet socks and tights work with more shoes than you might think. Try them with loafers, boots, and sneakers.

Wear them with skirts, shorts, and underneath torn denim. They add a styling twist to looks that might otherwise seem expected or boring.

In fact, we had no trouble finding looks where the addition of fishnet socks or tights perfectly completed a look.

See for yourself:

The best part about fishnet fashion pieces like socks and tights is that they’re an affordable way to dip your toes into a new trend. If you dare, try adding fishnet or netting into your next look, then check out the other 29 summer trends we have over here in our selling guide.

You should also know that we’re now buying for summer! So, collect those no-longer-loved pieces from your closet and step up to one of the selling counters of any of our store locations. You can earn cash or store credit to refresh your wardrobe with the summer trends that speak to you.
