January 9th, 2018 by Jennifer Beile 5 Cold Weather Outfits to Inspire You This Week

When the temperatures drop, your style doesn’t have to suffer. Here are five looks from some of our favorite bloggers to inspire your next cold-weather outfits for warmth and style!

frigid

Cable Knit Crazy
The thicker the knit, the warmer you’ll be! To recreate Michele‘s look, layer your favorite cable knit sweater with a heavy coat and top it all off with your cutest beanie.

Keeping it Colorful
I love that Dylana dresses in color despite the snowstorms in New York! From her makeup to her rust-colored cords, she inspires us to stand out even in the nastiest weather.

Proportion Play
Maja knows that you can’t go wrong with all black, and playing with proportions in layering creates interest in an otherwise minimalistic outfit.

Layers, Layers, & More Layers
Become a layering expert (see tips from Melanie here)! Tights under your pants, a thin long-sleeve tee under your sweater, and a scarf and a hat on top of it all will help you stay warm when you’re venturing out into those freezing temperatures.

Use Your Coat as a Statement Piece
Natalie doesn’t let cold temperatures keep her inside! Being so bundled up can put a damper on your style, but there are so many different coats and jackets that make a statement all on their own!

January 5th, 2018 by Samantha Weaver How to Wear Sequins After New Year’s Eve

It’s a bummer to buy a new party outfit that you love but have no clue how to work into your regular wardrobe. New Year’s is one of those nights we buy a one-night-only look for that never sees the light of day again. Well, no more! We’re repurposing our sequins with these five looks—and urge you to unleash your New Year’s shimmer onto the light of day!

Sequin Mini Skirt

Add a neutral colored sweater and Herschel hip bag to completely transform this party skirt for everyday.

Studded Velvet Blazer

We styled this fancy blazer with gold trousers and classic Vans—perfect for a Friday at the office!

Sequin Mini Dress

Just layer your sequins over any solid top or sweater, add a structured bag, and voila!—a completely new look.

Shiny Palazzo Pants

Kick up the shine by adding a shiny cardigan to your shimmery pants, then finish off the look with a waxed hip-bag!

Vintage Sequin Blouse

This is the vintage sequin blouse I wore this New Year’s Eve, and I’m looking forward to giving it new life! I’ve paired it with my Zara printed trousers, Everlane ballet heels, and a bright red crossbody purse.

How do you plan to repurpose your New Year’s sequins?

January 5th, 2018 by Melanie Sutrathada How to Layer Like a Pro This Year

The great thing about layering is it gives you the chance to be creative with your wardrobe. Whether you’re mixing different textures, playing with different lengths, or just throwing together your favorite button-downs, there are always more options when you layer. If you need any more convincing, check out some more examples of how to layer as inspired by our favorite bloggers!

Bring back your favorite summer dress by layering it over a turtleneck or a white t-shirt.

Tired of the same boring sweater and pant combination? Shake up your usual combination and opt for a skirt instead.

When it comes to layering for extra warmth, you can never go wrong with a teddy bear coat over a chunky knit sweater.

One more great thing about layering: you can pull off pieces that might be considered bold for the season (hello silk dresses and strapless tops!). This top might not be so practical on its own during the winter, but it’s definitely cold weather-appropriate with a turtleneck and coat!

If you’re wearing two long-sleeved button-ups, wear the thinner or longer piece underneath and have it peek out from the outermost layer.

Keep it chic and casual by pairing your favorite hoodie and coat together.

January 4th, 2018 by Jennifer Beile 3 Personal Style Resolutions for 2018

“New year, new me,” right? To be honest, I am not a big fan of New Year’s resolutions. Why wait for improvement, and why put further pressure on yourself when life is busy enough? With that said, it’s never a bad time to decide to make small, positive changes in your life!

Have you ever made resolutions pertaining to your personal style? Have you bought clothes just because they are trendy only to end up never wearing them? Or have you purchased something because its on sale or super cheap, just to leave it on the hanger or have it fall apart after a few washes?  What about feeling uncomfortable all day, tugging and pulling on something that doesn’t fit just right?

We’ve all been there. This year, resolve to clean out and create a wardrobe that is wholeheartedly you by following the simple style resolutions below.

resolutions

1. Shop Smart & Selectively.
Resolve to only buy pieces that you love. Forget about being trendy and create a wardrobe that you will actually wear. You’ll never have the “I have nothing to wear” problem while staring into a full closet again.

2. Shop Quality vs. Quantity.
Skip fast fashion stores and invest in quality pieces that will last you years. You will end up saving money and building a quality wardrobe you’ll be proud to wear again and again.

3. Ignore Style “Rules”.
You do not have to fit your style into one category. Do you happen to love flowy, floral dresses AND basic minimal black outfits? Don’t choose between bohemian style or minimalist style. Wear what you love, no matter what category it may fit into.
