As a new mom, I have a new appreciation for those who can seemingly do it all; it’s definitely not as easy as they make it look!
When I first started following style bloggers, the majority were close to my age range and, typically, single and without children. More and more in the last few years, my favorite bloggers have been reaching the same kinds of milestones in their lives as I have in mine. So many style bloggers share more of their life experience and advice than when they first begin. In my sphere, that includes children in the mix!
I want to share five of my favorite blogs by moms that I follow. They are an inspiration to me, in proving that you don’t have to be defined only by motherhood or a career. These women are multi-dimensional, stylish, and give us an honest peek into their busy lives.
You’ll often see Erin’s little ones show up on the blog. One of the first bloggers I followed, Erin was never shy about sharing her new life as a mom and is still one of the most stylish ladies I know doing it.
B. Jones Style
One of Crossroads’s very own Style Council members, Beth is an entrepreneur and a mother to two beautiful boys! Beth works as a fashion stylist and interior designer all while running her blog and YouTube channel and raising her boys with her husband.
Arielle has a little girl running around, and yet she still has the time and creativity to keep her blog constantly updated for her readers.
The Fashion Guitar
Although she is an internationally known blogger who often collaborates with companies like Vogue and InStyle, this down-to-earth fashionista always has time for her two little ones.
Cupcakes and Cashmere
Emily got into the blogging world early and has conquered every nook, including writing a book and releasing her own fashion line. But her main priority is her darling little girl Sloan, whose quirks and growing personality are a joy to read about.
Florals for spring: groundbreaking? Hardly. Still, florals are a universally flattering print that will always be a classic. Before we head into the high heats of summer, take advantage of spring’s beautiful weather and get the most out of your floral prints this season. Check out some of my favorite fresh ways to incorporate florals into your wardrobe!
Try one of this year’s hottest trends for an updated floral look.
Finding the perfect spring occasion dress can feel nearly impossible, but Lucy’s small print daisy wrap dress has everything you need.
If a floral print is too girly for you, look for a piece that has edgier details, like this sheer crop top with a modern embroidered applique.
If your style is a bit more minimalistic, add a floral pop in your shoes, bag, or jewelry.
Dare to be bold and mix together different floral prints, like Maria did in her playful outfit above.
Patch It Up
Breathe some new life into your old denim pieces by adding floral patches.
I absolutely love a rich, dark floral print—like the one in Blair’s jumpsuit—as opposed to the usual, more expected bright colors you see in spring.
We follow our favorite celebrities on social media to get an inside peek into their lives, but sometimes that’s just not enough. Luckily, for those looking for more than 140 characters or an Instagram caption, many of them also have blogs to discuss their interests more in-depth. Some of these celebrity bloggers have incredibly useful tips and inspiration for all areas of your life, perhaps unsurprisingly. After all, they’ve worked with and learned from the best in the business!
I’ve rounded up my most recommended celebrity blogs, worth adding to your favorites!
Jamie Chung, What the Chung?
Former reality star-turned-actress Jamie Chung created her blog What the Chung? to share her passion for style, beauty and travel. Her outfit-of-the-day photos will lure you in, while her beauty and travel sections will inspire you to stay a loyal reader.
Olivia Palermo, Olivia Palermo
Fashion, beauty, art, and travel—what more could you want from the fashion “it” girl who’s come a long since her days on reality TV? My favorite section of her blog has to be the shop section, where you can shop Olivia’s favorite pieces without having to search endlessly for that piece you spotted on her in a paparazzi photo.
Hannah Brofman, HBFIT
The DJ superstar who’s now a health and fitness blogger inspires her readers to live their healthiest lives on their own terms. Down to earth, quirky, and honest, Hannah began sharing her fitness journey on Instagram. She soon turned to blogging to share her ever-expanding wealth of tips and thoughts.
Lauren Conrad, Lauren Conrad
Lauren Conrad’s blog is the epitome of girl-next-door advice. Humble and honest, Lauren and her team share tips, DIYs, and inspiration in topics ranging from fashion to food and health to décor.
Tiffani Thiessen, Tiffani Thiessen
The ’90s kid inside me squealed with delight when I found out that Tiffani (it almost pains me to leave out the “Amber”) Thiessen has her very own show on the Cooking Channel (Dinner at Tiffanis), as well has her own blog! In it, Tiffani shares her impressive cooking and dinner party skills with her fans, old and new. Who knew the former teen actress was so humble, down to earth, and skilled in the kitchen?!
Ashley Madekwe, Ring My Bell
I admittedly came across Ashley’s blog very recently, not realizing I was coveting the style of the star of ABC’s Revenge. Ashley started her blog before she made it as a TV actress, as a way to keep her family and friends updated on her life while she traveled for work. Eventually, Ashley was able to grow her blog into a space to share fashion and inspiration not only with her television fans, but with all fashion lovers.
Gwyneth Paltrow, Goop
I know, I know—Goop has a love-hate reputation amongst fans and readers. But all prior judgements aside, Goop is a well-written blog with everything from style, food, health, career and family tips. It is definitely targeted toward readers with a taste for luxury, but for the rest of us, we can always live vicariously through Gwyneth.
With Daylight Saving, rising temperatures, and the sun shining just a bit brighter each day, it’s clear that spring has arrived. That means it’s time to shed those layers and break out your warm weather clothes! Some trends I’m looking forward to seeing are statement sleeves, short heels and flats, full midi skirts, and lots and lots of vibrant colors. To help inspire your style this new season, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite blogger looks I’ve seen this week that epitomize spring style.
Grasie’s top and skirt set just screams “Spring is here!” I am in love with how the coral in the floral print matches her mini bag and lip color.
Andy’s outfit may be from last spring, but it is just as trendy and current today. Her crisp off-the-shoulder blouse with tie detail is the perfect statement to add to your wardrobe and remix throughout the season.
Krystal takes on a ladylike spring look in her midi skirt and slingbacks, two of the season’s biggest trends.
Talisa is casual-chic in her midi skirt and sneakers—two easy-to-wear pieces that may just become your spring uniform!
I am completely envious of Lisa’s wide leg, ruffled ankle pants. They are perfect for spring and can be remixed endlessly into summer!
A spring closet essential: an easy and effortless dress like Natalie‘s that you can throw on for all those spring brunches with your girlfriends!
Blair‘s spring dress is another that can easily be worn multiple ways; belt it, wear it as a vest, with heels or flats, or over jeans.
International Women’s Day was yesterday, but we should come together to celebrate the spirit and achievement of women everyday, not just once a year. In that spirit, I’ve highlighted some of the high-profile female celebrities that use their public influence and time to better the lives of others. Many celebrities give back regularly by donating money, I’m but focusing on those involved in the physical and social work it takes to make a difference. Keep reading for five celebrity women who are using their influence for good!
Oprah Winfrey is not only the queen of media and one of the richest people in the world, she is also a philanthropist that focuses on education, often donating tens of millions of her own money to charity. She has established her own charity organizations, Oprah’s Angel Network and The Oprah Winfrey Foundation. She also routinely donates time and money to other organizations and publicly promotes issues that otherwise struggle with gaining attention. She’s even received the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her work!
A list of celebrity social influencers would not be complete without Angelina Jolie. Jolie is an outspoken activist who routinely goes on field missions and raises awareness about refugees, war-torn countries, and women’s and children’s rights. Jolie is involved in several goodwill organizations, such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Kids in Need of Defense, and the Council on Foreign Relations. She is truly an example of one using their good fortune to help those in need.
South African native Charlize Theron focuses her humanitarian efforts on those suffering from HIV/AIDs with the support of her organization The Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project. Theron is also outspoken about preventing and stopping violence against women and girls. She was named a United Nations Messenger of Peace in 2008.
Emma Watson is a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador and works to promote education for girls. In 2014, she launched HeForShe, a campaign for gender equality. Watson is so adamant about women’s rights and gender equality that she started a feminist book club, Our Shared Shelf, to help further promote these ideas across the world.
Supermodel and humanitarian Chrissy Turlington is a huge advocate for maternal health. After suffering from complications from her own pregnancy, she got involved and began helping underprivileged mothers have a healthy pregnancy and childbirth. Her efforts include providing staff training to clinics with little resources. Turlington also directed a documentary in 2010 called No Woman, No Cry, which profiles the status of maternal health around the world.
Of course, there are many more female celebrities—and women just like you and me—who are actively involved in trying to better the lives of those less fortunate. Who inspires you in your daily life to make the world a better place?
