And while it may be necessary to continue to throw on your denim with layers upon layers of sweaters, there are simple ways to add a bit of a spark to your basic outfit. Below are simple tips that will elevate your jeans and sweater uniform, as to not be stuck in a never ending style rut this season.
Little Touches Make a Big Difference
Try tucking your favorite chunky knit into your jeans and adding a belt as a focal point.
Add Accessories
From hats to jewelry to statement boots, adding eye catching accessories will take your fall uniform from basic to chic.
Focus on Footwear
Jazz up your fall and winter uniform with a pair of statement shoes like these cutout booties that Caitlyn is rocking or a pair of trend forward animal print boots or loafers.
Experiment with Colors
Kick your rut to the curb by experimenting with different color denim.
Play Up Proportions
Skinny jeans will always be classic, but if you’re itching for a change, add some diversity to your denim collection with wide leg, flare, or bootcut this season.
Layering Adds Dimension
Adding a simple layer underneath your sweater can instantly transform the vibe of an outfit.

Certain denim silhouettes that will always be classic, namely skinny, straight, and bootcut. In the past couple of years, denim styles have been evolving and we’ve been seeing more and more so-called “anti-skinny” jeans that seem to be more than just a fad. Continuing this trend is the resurgence of the ’70s born flared jeans. They had a brief comeback in the early 2000’s, were recently seen on the latest fashion week runways, and have finally trickled down to some of the most stylish celebrities, which, let’s face it, is the real sign that a trend is about to make its way into the mainstream fashion scene once again.

Channel the ’70s
No one was afraid to take chances with fashion in the ’70s. Channel that bold energy by using vibrant colors and funky prints for a fearless look.
Play With Layers & Proportions
Adding layers can aid in a more dramatic effect of the flare detail.
Edge It Up
A pair of distressed kicked flares not only lets you show off your favorite ankle boots but add a bit of edge to your look, giving the silhouette a modern update.

A striped tee and a trench coat are a timeless combination that pairs well with any denim silhouette.
Cozy & Comfortable

Off-White Shades
Light denim doesn’t have to stay in your summer wardrobe! I’m looking forward to adding some beige jeans to my fall line-up as they are an excellent hue that will stand out among my darker denim this fall season.
Paperbag Jeans
I am loving the belt detail of paperbag jeans! The higher waistline makes these silhouettes the perfect style to wear with a loosely tucked in sweater or even a fitted top this coming fall season.
Denim Maxi
Feminine with a 70’s flair, denim maxi skirts are a great alternative to jeans, especially when things cool down for the fall season! It’s definitely a bit more daring in style, but fashion is all about standing out and taking risks!
