I won’t say that our beloved skinny jeans will ever go out of style, but they are being upstaged this season. It’s time to give your skinnies a break and spread the denim love to other silhouettes. Flared, cropped, bootcut, wide legged, and boyfriend jeans are all in and can mix up your wardrobe in so many different ways.
Adding different denim styles to your wardrobe will add interest to your basics and variety to your regular outfit rotation. The 10 outfits below will have you re-thinking the denim you wear and what you pair with them.
This season, it’s all about that effortless “cool girl” look and we really dig it. That means pile on all the plaid, fringe, hats (beanies or fedoras, please) and dark denim you can find.
Our Dark Denim Dress ($38.50) pairs perfectly with our Two-Tone Fedora ($20) and your favorite Chelsea boots. I’m getting a Jaglever vibe from this whole outfit.
You can never go wrong with plaid. Our Reversible Plaid & Herringbone Shawl ($25) is so versatile! Not only does it have two fall-ready prints, you can wear it as a scarf or button it down into a poncho. Amazing.
Paired with all black accessories, our Cut-Out Midi Dress ($25) is the epitome of effortless cool. Add your favorite boots, a plaid scarf and that trendy suede jacket you just picked up.

Denim has been front and center for most of 2015, and for that we are grateful. But what does 2016 have in store for our favorite durable fabric? I’m calling it now: next season’s denim trend will be based on color over style—specifically on the bright ultra-blue color of ’70s raw denim. So take a look at our newest and bluest denim pieces available in Crossroads stores now.
This week in fashion, a once not-so-loved trend came back to life—only this time, we can’t help but love it. Everyone from bloggers at LFW to celebrities at the Emmys picked up on wearing dresses over pants, and boy, are we glad they did. As far as we’re concerned, dresses over pants are rising to the top of our “must try” list for fall.
Channel Nicole’s matching set by pairing our Striped Shirt Dress ($32.50) with your favorite gingham trousers. Tip: Belting your dress is a great way to create a silhouette on shift or smock dresses.
Kiernan Shipka’s Dior ensemble rocked the red carpet at last week’s Emmy Awards. Dior’s youthful take on the dress over pants look is fun both in its choice of color and length. To recreate Kiernan’s look, we chose a shorter herringbone dress and paired it with leather-paneled trousers.
The dress over pants movement looks especially good in monochromatic tones. White on white has been a big player in this trend (made famous by Kendall Jenner in The Row), so here I chose light-washed denim pieces in oversized cuts to create a casual weekend look.
Do you think you’ll try this trend this fall?
Introduce a new silhouette to your denim drawer by embracing a pair of wide-leg jeans. This ultra-flattering style is one of the season’s biggest trends and has many of our favorite fashion girls going down a ’70s route.
Here are five looks that will have you rethinking your skinny jeans this fall:
Go ’70s with flared denim, a boho blouse, and fun, chunky sandals for added height.
