There’s no piece quite like a blazer. This outerwear number is an office wardrobe staple that’s universally flattering, whether it’s fitted, long, or oversized. It’s one of the first pieces we think of when it comes to power dressing. So, what are you waiting for? Pick up a blazer today, and get to styling! Here are 6 ways to style a blazer this spring:

If you already consider yourself the queen of androgynous style, turn your skills up a notch by pairing your blazer with a graphic tee and high-waisted pants.

Ready to make a fashion statement? Throw on a vintage blazer, a pleated midi skirt, and a statement belt!

A gray blazer, white blouse, and denim pants make for an easy go-anywhere outfit. It’s the combo you’ll be wearing on heavy rotation this season.

Double up on outerwear by wearing an oversized blazer and pantsuit.

For your next on-the-go look, find a slouchy blazer and pair it with a black slip-dress.

Grab a colored blazer, belt it at the waist, and wear it over black pants. It’s a fashion blogger-approved outfit you’ll want to wear on repeat all spring long.

March 27th, 2018 by Jennifer Beile 5 Crossroads Selling Tips for Spring!

It’s finally spring (even if some of us are still covered in snow) and you know what that means… It’s time for spring cleaning! My favorite spring cleaning motivation is knowing I can get cash or trade when I bring my gently used clothing to Crossroads. If you’ve never sold your clothes before, or if you’d just like a refresher, here are my 5 Crossroads selling tips for spring.

1.
Know your local Crossroads.

Take the time to browse your local store before you haul in your clothes to sell. You’ll get a better idea of what type of clothing they’re looking to buy, and it may save you the trouble of bringing in too many items.

2. Check the selling guide.

What better way to know what Crossroads is looking for than by going to the source itself? Their online selling guide will tell you what styles and trends they are currently looking for each season.

3. Condition is key!

Only bring in gently used, clean, in-season, and on-trend clothing. If an item needs mending, has stains, or is out of season (e.g. a coat in summer), it’s less likely to be sold.

4. It’s all in the details.

Take some extra time and make sure your clothes are washed, wrinkle-free, and folded nicely when brought into Crossroads. Even if a garment is relatively new, if it’s unwashed and shoved tightly into a ball in a bag, it will look more worn and is more likely to be passed on.

5. Don’t give up.

If you don’t succeed in selling all your clothes, ask your Crossroads buyer why they passed on certain items. It may just be that they already have plenty of that particular style or trend in stock. Then, you’ll know whether it’s worth a shot to take it to a different location to try to sell.

March 15th, 2018 by Melanie Sutrathada 6 Ways to Wear Denim

From jeans to oversized denim jackets, we’ll always have a special place for classic denim pieces in our wardrobe. If you’re in a fashion rut and want a few ideas for how to style your denim pieces, you’ve come to the right place.

Here are six different ways to wear denim this season!

denim
When it comes to styling denim skirts, keep it simple by pairing it with a white or black blouse!

Don’t be afraid to wear an oversized denim jacket as a dress. Combat the lack of coverage by dressing this outfit up with over-the-knee-boots or thigh-high socks.

Left to my own devices, I’d wear denim overalls all the time. They’re not just comfy; this statement piece has gotten a major update since you wore them last in elementary school.

The key to mixing denim on denim is to pick two pieces that are similar in shade. Or, choose blue and black denim for another failproof combination.

This denim dress ensemble looks great with a belt or a fanny pack to break up the outfit.

You can never go wrong with mixing blue denim and black denim. It’s a great casual outfit for when you’re out and running errands!

Dive into the trend with a head-to-toe metallics-on-metallics combination.

If you want a metallic skirt to serve as the focal point of your outfit, wear it with a neutral top. If you want extra style points for creativity, pair the skirt with a sheer-colored blouse!

However you choose to add it to your closet, wear your metallic fashion with confidence!  This winter, proudly rock a bronze-colored coat as your favorite go-to coat.

January 16th, 2018 by Melanie Sutrathada 6 Ways to Style Over-the-Knee Boots

Between you and me, there’s nothing a pair of over-the-knee boots can’t do to jazz up an outfit. Not only are they versatile, you can use them as an extra layer for warmth during winter. Consider investing in a great pair (make sure to check out your local Crossroads!) for an easy, effortless way to make a casual outfit look more chic.

Any of these combinations are a fail-proof shortcut for pulling off over-the-knee boots.

knee boots
An obvious fashion choice for over-the-knee boots is layering them over skinny jeans. Pair a chunky sweater with form-fitting denim for a sleek silhouette.

A sweater dress with over-the-knee boots is everything you need to channel your inner fashionista this winter.

Combine two trends by wearing a shearling coat with your boots.

Don’t want your over-the-knees boots to be the focal point of your outfit? Try adding a long cardigan or coat.

If you think that OTK boots should only be reserved for girls’ night out, think again. You can easily wear these types of boots with something more casual and comfy, like a cozy oversized sweater.

Style your over-the-knee boots with a high-waisted skirt and beret for the ultimate French-girl vibe.
