Blog: Crossroads Style

May 13th, 2016 by Samantha Weaver Meet Denny, Our Newest Style Council Member!

We are very excited to welcome Denny Balmaceda to the ranks of the Crossroads Style Council! If you aren’t already one of his 90k+ followers, then listen up—because this guy may as well have invented the #ootd.
Denny firmly believes in the difference between fashion and style:  Fashion is temporary; fashion is a race. Style is independent of that. Style is story telling.
–Because of his ability to tell a story through style, ten minutes can easily turn into ten hours on any one of Denny’s platforms. Whether you’re scrolling through his blog or his Instagram feed, you’ll find yourself inspired by his artistry, musical vibes, and, of course, his personal style.
We can relate to Denny’s fashion philosophy: “‘Look rich, shop cheap,’ will forever be my motto. Regardless of success or life changes, I have some of the best times when I am thrifting. When buying, selling or trading clothes, I can always rely on @crossroads_east in Manhattan to find the most unique pieces.”
We can’t wait to see what Denny finds next at Crossroads! If you’re in the New York area, make sure to check out his favorite Crossroads location in the Flatiron District.
Welcome to the Crossroads Style Council, Denny!

March 4th, 2016 by Samantha Weaver Meet Julius!

When it comes to men’s style on a budget, Julius of Thrift Like a Gentleman is our go-to guy. That’s why we are so excited to announce that Julius is now part of the Crossroads Style Council!

Julius describes his style as street style meets suit and tie, and we are super inspired by his ability to pair casual with buttoned-up. Surely a guy with so much experience finding affordable fashion has some tips for the rest of us? Julius says, “Be patient, persistent, and consistent. It takes time to find great deals that may be worth it to you. There will be months where you strike out and days you hit fashionable home runs.”

If you’re looking for men’s fashion advice, make sure you check out his IG. He shares the ins and outs of finding entire outfits for under $50-$100—plus all his great finds from Crossroads.

A little known secret is that skateboarding started his interest in fashion. Big points there too!

Welcome, Julius!

February 16th, 2016 by Jennifer Beile Round Up: 2016 Spring Trends for Men

Last week, I shared 2016’s spring trends for women, but fear not—I have not forgotten about the men! Crossroads has a men’s section, and while it may be smaller, it’s got so many key pieces and fun finds. My husband usually finds more than I do when we make a stop!

This season, we are seeing men’s trends go two different directions: classical, tonal colors and bright, bold prints that make great statement pieces.

Gather inspiration—for you or your man—from below to see what you should be selling, buying, and styling this season.

TonaltonalAs with the ladies, one of the biggest spring trends for men this upcoming season is wearing tonal and monochromatic outfits. It’s an easy way to be on-trend in a classic and sophisticated way.

MilitarymilitaryMilitary-inspired menswear is not a new trend, but it is staying strong into the new season. The key is to go minimal; add a hint of camo print, green or khaki colors, and details like epaulettes.

Bold Colors & Statement Piecesspring trendsWe will be seeing an abundance of bold, statement pieces that incorporate bright colors this spring.

Graphic Prints & Stripesspring trendsThe two trendy prints this season are graphic prints and stripes; have fun with them on any piece of your outfit!
