There’s no such thing as being overdressed for opening day at the derby! Match the sunny mood with a midi sundress or an outfit in a spring shade like light blue, light pink, or mint green.

Stray away from traditional derby attire and opt for a quirky graphic tee tucked into a scallop-edged skirt.

Turn heads like a blogger by going for a voluminous full-length skirt with a cute blouse and neck scarf.

Headpieces are always an opening day staple. Choose a wide-brimmed hat or a fascinator to make any outfit a statement one.

Keep it feminine and flirty in floral prints! Finish your outfit with extra details like ribbons and bows and then style it up with a pair of wedges.

Show off your figure in a bodycon dress. Looking for extra style points? Achieve crowning elegance with a fancy updo that accentuates your headpiece.

March 27th, 2018 by Jennifer Beile 5 Crossroads Selling Tips for Spring!

It’s finally spring (even if some of us are still covered in snow) and you know what that means… It’s time for spring cleaning! My favorite spring cleaning motivation is knowing I can get cash or trade when I bring my gently used clothing to Crossroads. If you’ve never sold your clothes before, or if you’d just like a refresher, here are my 5 Crossroads selling tips for spring.

1.
Know your local Crossroads.

Take the time to browse your local store before you haul in your clothes to sell. You’ll get a better idea of what type of clothing they’re looking to buy, and it may save you the trouble of bringing in too many items.

2. Check the selling guide.

What better way to know what Crossroads is looking for than by going to the source itself? Their online selling guide will tell you what styles and trends they are currently looking for each season.

3. Condition is key!

Only bring in gently used, clean, in-season, and on-trend clothing. If an item needs mending, has stains, or is out of season (e.g. a coat in summer), it’s less likely to be sold.

4. It’s all in the details.

Take some extra time and make sure your clothes are washed, wrinkle-free, and folded nicely when brought into Crossroads. Even if a garment is relatively new, if it’s unwashed and shoved tightly into a ball in a bag, it will look more worn and is more likely to be passed on.

5. Don’t give up.

If you don’t succeed in selling all your clothes, ask your Crossroads buyer why they passed on certain items. It may just be that they already have plenty of that particular style or trend in stock. Then, you’ll know whether it’s worth a shot to take it to a different location to try to sell.

March 21st, 2018 by Melanie Sutrathada 6 Pastel Outfits to Wear This Spring

Is an all-black color scheme your go-to fashion palette? Nothing wrong with that! But maybe you’re thinking of incorporating a little more color into your wardrobe. Pastels are everywhere this season, and they’re easy to wear for a punch of playfulness. This spring, master the art of styling pastel outfits using these looks for inspiration:

pastel
Tone down the brightness of a yellow skirt by pairing it with a white blouse.

When the spring dress code is pastels, why wouldn’t you pair your two favorites together?

Going full-on monochrome in a pastel color is an obvious choice in 2018. Enter: ultra violet, the Pantone Color of the Year!

Aimee Song demonstrates another way to style two pastel colors together: pair a pastel turtleneck with a furry pastel coat.

Add a handbag to create that extra pop of color. We love how the brights in this outfit pop off Jenn’s green pastel dress!

Up your color-blocking game by tucking a pastel sweater into a black mini skirt.
