December 19th, 2017 by Jennifer Beile 5 Unexpected Holiday Party Outfits

With the holiday season in full effect, you’re probably running around trying to get last-minute gifts, juggling multiple holiday parties, and trying to spend quality time with loved ones.  The last thing you want to stress about is what to wear while you’re already overextending yourself. You can certainly go for the tried-and-true formula—semi-formal, a dress or slacks, something with muted or jewel tones. Or, you can throw all the rules out the window, have fun and enjoy yourself in a bold look!

Below, I’ve rounded up five unexpected holiday party outfits to inspire you to celebrate the season in extra style!

Merry & Bright
Metallics are trending this season, and what better way to celebrate the holidays than by sparkling all night? Try mixing different tones and textures with your metallic pieces to create a unique look that will work for all your holiday parties.

Turn Up the Volume
Voluminous ruffles will make any outfit party-worthy! Don’t be afraid to mix two pieces that have ruffles, like Lauren does in this flouncy festive outfit!

Pretty, Pretty Prints
A fun print is an easy way to make a fashion statement! Beth’s velvet floral suit is amazing on it’s own, but pairing it with a statement takes it to next-level belle of the holiday ball status!

Velvet Revival
You can’t go wrong with velvet for the holidays, but instead of the wrap dress silhouette we’ve been seeing a lot lately, try a velvet maxi slip dress for versatility. Layer it with either a casual tee or a simple thin turtleneck for an easy yet chic party look.

November 21st, 2017 by Jennifer Beile Round Up: 5 Chic Ways to Suit Up This Season

Girls just wanna have fun, and sometimes that means dressing up in new, bold ways. Suits are majorly trending this season, but don’t be intimidated by this menswear-inspired trend revival—there are so many ways to make a suit fun and playful, not stuffy and stiff. A suit can be a daring alternative to a dress for the holiday season, or a versatile and chic outfit that’ll take you from day to night. Mixing and matching classic and modern pieces, wearing bright colors and prints, and playing with silhouettes are just a few ways you can modernize a traditional power suit look.

Take a look at some of my favorite ways to update a classic look and suit up this season!

suit up

1. Choose bold colors.
Go bold or go home; wear a suit in a bright color for a fun, playful look.

2. Accessorize.
Accessories can make or break an outfit. Add a statement belt to a suit to instantly add that chic factor.

3. Don’t be afraid of pattern or texture.
Suits don’t have to be classic; show your personal style by looking for suits with texture or pattern. You can’t go wrong with a floral, check, or pinstripe print.

4. Play with proportions.
Playing with proportions creates interest in an otherwise classic outfit. Try an oversized blazer with fitted trousers, or opt for other pieces with exaggerated features, like a bell-sleeved suit jacket or wide-leg trousers.

5. Mix classic and trendy pieces.
Make a suit more casual by combining a classic blazer and trousers with a graphic tee and sneakers.

There’s something about velvet textures that just screams “wear me!” during the holiday season. Layer a camisole or slip dress over an embellished turtleneck to add extra flair to your look.

Of course, pops of bold red or forest green are always a top choice for the holidays.

Want a comfy and fashionable dinner party look? Opt for a chunky knit sweater (it’ll help hide a food coma!) and a pair of black leggings.

Fashion goal for the rest of 2017: rock more sequins!

If these fashion tips don’t work for you, you can always go for a tried-and-true all-black outfit.

January 18th, 2017 by Melanie Sutrathada 6 Sweater and Skirt Outfits to Try This Season

A sweater and skirt pairing makes for an easy, pulled-together outfit. It’s a classic combination with more versatility than you may think; just change up the sweater thickness or the skirt style for a different look. With a little help from our favorite bloggers, we’ve curated six sweater and skirt combinations and some handy style tips that you need to try ASAP!

sweater with a skirt

If you’ve ever needed a reason to pull out your favorite tulle skirt, look no further! Play up the feminine factor of a tulle skirt with a thick turtleneck sweater for a sophisticated and flirty look that isn’t too over-the-top.

P2 - Le Happy

Pleated midi skirts aren’t just for spring. There’s something about combining them with chunky knit sweaters that is so cozy and chic for winter!

P3 - Like the Yogurt

Hello, 50 shades of grey! When in doubt, choose a neutral color scheme and stick with it. Embrace the beauty of monotone by choosing layers that give dimension to your outfit. Throw on an oversized pullover sweater, a thick scarf and a draped skirt for style and comfort.

P4 - One Small Blonde

Trying to tone down a fringe skirt? Recreate this outfit by styling a long, fringe skirt with a more subdued knit in a frosty color.

P5 - Sincerely Jules

A super easy way to style a colorblock sweater is by choosing a miniskirt that matches ones of the shades in it. This creates a cohesive combination that doesn’t distract from the beauty of the sweater.

P6 - Something Navy

Can you “knot”? Pull off this look by tucking a thin, slouchy sweater into a knotted skirt. This is a great way to accentuate your curves!
