There has not been an official statement as of yet, but I am (im)patiently waiting for every detail of this highly anticipated announcement.
First Image of Black Hole
The black hole is located in Messier 87, a galaxy in the constellation Virgo, 55 million light years from Earth and was ultimately a direct result of an algorithm created by 29-year-old Katie Bouman. Realizing that this feat is equivalent to taking a photo of an orange on the moon with your iPhone makes you realize just how important this will be for the future of science.
