Blog: Crossroads Style

January 31st, 2018 by Mary Elizabeth OOTD: How to Wear the Grunge Glam Look

Hey, it’s Mary.  I’m back with another blog post and yet another favorite piece from Crossroads. For me, a major fashion movement was the post-grunge era of the early ’90s. I idolized the red lips, thin brows (unaware I was of the lifelong consequences…), and the rooty blonde hair circa Drew Barrymore and Courtney Love’s rumored feud. And some days, I like to transform myself into a modern ’90s grunge glam girl.

I found this Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent furry jacket at the Studio City Crossroads.  It provides some much-appreciated texture—poodle-esque if you will—and with its cropped hemline, it hits perfectly over both a high waist and longer layers.  I count on it to bring a little whimsy to a dull ensemble, but black keeps it relatively low key.

I paired it with a cozy tunic-length sweater and cropped leopard pants.  With its neutral colors, this look is all about texture.  I balanced the leopard print with a visually calming creamy sweater, topped both pieces off with the furry jacket, and pulled together the entire look with a modest nude slingback.  My hair and make up add a bit of edge with a nod to decades past.
