Blog: Crossroads Style

January 24th, 2018 by Mary Elizabeth OOTD: How to Wear the Athletic Trend

Mary Elizabeth back again, and this time, I’m getting super sporty…

…well, for me at least.  My personal style gravitates toward comfy with a dose of glam, but pairing a sweatshirt with little boys’ athletic pants (I like my pants cropped and high-waisted!) is all new territory.  I decided to dress these babies up with some super fun Wildfox “minion” sunnies (exaggerated shades are kind of my thing. I’m from LA, okay?). I picked these up at the West Hollywood Crossroads and keep them on frequent rotation.

The next standout piece—which is probably what motivated the junior athletic trousers in the first place—are these robin’s egg blue patent leather Kurt Geiger Mary-Janes.  I knew they’d be the perfect pop of color for my typically neutral ensembles.  Little did I know, these vibrant soles would inspire a whole new fashion departure with my venture into both the athletic trend and bolder colors. I picked up these sweet little flats at the Studio City Crossroads and have been loving them ever since.  They give me all the bad-girl, baby-doll vibes of the ’90s.  Plus, they add a little refinement to my otherwise sloppy ensemble.

Finished with a little half tuck and a navy collar, here’s how the entire look came together.
