It’s boot season and whether or not you are in a climate that has already cooled to breezy fall temperatures or enjoying extended warm summer weather, it’s time to start investing in your boot collection for the turn of the season. While it may be a bit bittersweet to put your strappy sandals and open-toed mules in the back of your closet, making room for new boot staples will kickstart your fall wardrobe turn over and spark your creativity for the new season. Take a look at 5 boot styles to invest in this season to complete your cold weather footwear collection.

Mid, Knee, & Over-the-Knee Boots

Tall boots are a timeless fall staple that can help transition your dresses and skirts from summer to fall or add a chic element to a pair of skinny jeans.

Square-Toe, Chunky Heel Bootie

The newest boot silhouette on this season’s trend list is a modern square toe, chunky heeled ankle bootie which creates a comfortable and stylish way to pull your outfit together.

Pointed-Toe, Kitten Heel Bootie

On the opposite end of the spectrum detailed above, a chic pointed-toe, kitten heel bootie is the cold-weather version of a classic pump. This smart bootie pairs well with any style, from skinny to wide-leg silhouettes.

Lace-Up, Chunky Boot

Think Dr. Martens or combat boots, the lace-up chunky boot may just be the most practical trend this season. The all-weather, all-terrain footwear has received a sophisticated update and it will no longer look like a pair of construction boots, but an edgy addition to your fall look.

Classic Chelsea Booties

A classic Chelsea bootie is just that: classic. This style will never be out of style and is a fantastic starting to for refreshing your boot collection for the cold weather.

December 10th, 2018 by Mary Elizabeth How to Style Furry Heels

One of my greatest passions is shopping in zip codes that aren’t my own.  With Crossroads, I can always get a bit of local flavor as the community surrounding each location quite literally stocks each store.  While I was in Costa Mesa, CA, I spotted a Crossroads, and within 2.5 seconds, I was parked and inside.

I bought a few items that day, and one of the stars to emerge are these furry  heels!  These are the type of fashion item that you’re on the fence whether it’s the most amazing thing you’ve ever seen OR not at all.  I went with amazing, and it wasn’t a mistake! I get compliments everywhere I go, and they are super comfy and elevate every look I pair with them. Personally, I think any design or fashion item that pushes the envelope a bit is typically the most exciting and winds up being my favorite element.

December 6th, 2018 by Jennifer Beile How to Style Converse Sneakers With a Dress

There’s nothing that makes a bit more formal look work for day and, quite literally running around town, like sneakers.  Converse are a classic that just keep on giving.  White high-top chucks are a low-cost investment; I highly encourage everyone to jump on.  They are perfect with basically everything – in the summer with cut-offs (I refuse to use “jorts” – I mean, what is that!?), with cropped pants, and of course, with a fun dress.

I’m a Converse-for-life kind of girl.  Are you into the sneakers and a dress look?  What’s your go-to sneaker?

Give your feet a break while keeping the boost of a heel. The flatform shoe is back and better than ever.

Kitten Heels

The return of this trend may garner mixed reactions. From sandals to booties, stilettos to block, the ’80s kitten heel is back and will either be loved or hated.

February 1st, 2017 by Julius Adorsu Sneaker Maintenance: How to Clean Your Shoes

I wouldn’t consider myself a sneakerhead, but I sure do love shoes. And I’m hard on them—they were designed for outdoor activities, after all. They can pretty unpleasant after wearing them to parties or just the regular day-to-day abuse. I’ve been told that the first thing people look at when they meet you is your shoes. Those bad boys better be sparkling clean!

Treat the items that you value as well as they treat you. Your car gets you around, and after certain mileage you have to do maintenance. Well, the same thing applies to your shoes after some hard miles.

To help me do some sneaker maintenance I picked up the Jason Markk essential kit, but you can use any gentle brush and shoe-cleaning solution.

The shoes I’m cleaning are not only some of my favorite sneakers on rotation, they’re also #CrossroadsFinds that I picked up for less than $20 a pair!

The process is very simple and only requires three things: a brush, some cleaning solution, and a bowl of water.

The part of my shoes I most struggle to keep clean is the back of the sole, so naturally that’s the part I focused on the most.

With some light scrubbing and very little effort, I was absolutely blown away with the results.

As a frequent thrifter, I’m always finding sneakers that just need a little maintenance.  I’m very pleased with the results of this cleaning set, especially for the price. I purchased my set at a local Chicago sneaker store for under $18 with tax. You can find it on the Jason Markk website for just $16 + tax and shipping.  If you’re looking to clean your shoes, this kit is great!
