July 23rd, 2019 by Jennifer Beile 4 Ways to Wear Late Summer Trends

This summer has been full of micro-trends, popping up throughout the season, which, if I am being honest, I typically tend to like more than the “must-haves” of each season. They are usually a bit more fun and open for individual interpretation. The common theme between the most recent trend proclamations is that they are all nostalgic; from the ’60s to the ’90s, the late summer trends are calling back to the most carefree summer days with modern updates. Check out below what my four favorite late-summer trend discoveries are!

Silk Scarves

As Samantha wrote last week, summer scarves have made a big splash. Silk summer scarves are being re-purposed in a modern way to bring a fresh feel to this retro accessory.

Anklets

As most 90’s trends have made it back into the trend cycle, it’s no surprise that we have begun to see anklets coming back in full force. From dainty chains, charms, and the notorious puka shells, anklets are an unexpected trend that has upgraded from bohemian to chic.

Seashell Accessories

From earrings, anklets, and even bags, accessories comprising of seashells have slowly infiltrated my Instagram, Pinterest feed, and all my favorite stores. As with each trend that cycles back, this has taken a modern update from the puka shells of the ’90s.

Tie-Dye

The nostalgic print has reappeared this year and has somehow grown from childhood family vacation souvenir t-shirts to chic summer style. Try pairing this print with elevated fabrics for a refreshing take on the trend.

August 14th, 2018 by Jennifer Beile 3 Summer Trends to Take Into Fall

Summer may be coming to an end sooner than we want, but that doesn’t mean that your favorite fashion trends have to be stashed away in the back of your closet until next year. Fall is all about layering and transitional dressing, meaning it’s easier than ever to get the most out of your summer wardrobe.

Here are three summer trends you can take into the fall season, plus how to style them for the cooler weather!

1. Silky Slip Skirts and Dresses

Top your silky slip with a chunky knit sweater and a great pair of boots, and you’ll have a new go-to outfit this fall!

2. Neon Colors

The weather may be a bit more dreary in the fall, but that doesn’t mean your wardrobe has to be. From sweaters to accessories and makeup, don’t be afraid to bring your favorite bright and bold neon colors into fall.

3. Breezy White Dresses

Breaking the rule of not wearing white after Labor Day has become almost expected—fall and winter whites are now a wardrobe staple! Layer up your favorite white summer dresses, or look for a white dress with full, exaggerated sleeves and finish it with a pair of your favorite sneakers or booties.

June 5th, 2018 by Jennifer Beile 5 Summer Pieces to Buy Secondhand This Season

When you’re on a limited budget, replenishing your closet each season can be difficult, which is one of the many reasons why I love thrifting and going to Crossroads to fulfill my seasonal, trendy wardrobe cravings (Bring on the summer pieces). You may love a trend one day, but as the honeymoon phase of new clothing wears off, you may find yourself pushing it aside for some of your more classic staples. Why pay full price for something that you may not love forever?

Enter secondhand shopping.  Check out 5 summer pieces I’ll be looking for at Crossroads.

Midi Dresses
Last week I shared my favorite midi dresses for this summer, and I hope it inspires you to find your favorite.

Ruffles
If you’re like me and have shied away from ruffles since childhood, you may be wary about this summer trend. Fear not, ruffles can be fun and age appropriate.
