November 22nd, 2019 by Samantha Furno Layering 101: Stay Cozy, but Look Chic

With that winter chill in full force, the only way to survive the cold during these winter months is by layering. The act of layering is synonymous with the season.  Although it may seem like a chore when you’re getting dressed to brave the cold, consider layering as a thought-out part of your style routine instead and you’ll be sure to take your winter style to the next level! I’ve outlined 5 simple tips below that will ensure that you’re a layering master this winter season.

Start with a Stylish Base

When it comes to base layering, a turtleneck is a foolproof way to add a more classic element to any winter look this season.

Hoodie & Jacket Combo

Comfortable hoodies will look instantly elevated when worn beneath a stylish jacket this winter season. Plus, you’ll be ready if you get caught in the rain as well!

It’s All in The Accessories

Blanket scarves, pom-pom beanies, printed gloves; no matter what you choose to top off your cozy fit, you’ll be sure to be bundled to the max! Be bold and try something in a vibrant hue or even a trendy leopard print!

Opt for a Vest

A vest is a fantastic alternative to a jacket or coat this winter, plus opting for one with a more tailored fit with polish off your fit beautifully.

Double Up on Sweaters

Not only is an oversized sweater a must-have for any winter wardrobe, it is also a great option to throw on over a fitted sweater or two to ensure you’ll be as cozy as can be!

Just because the weather is drab, doesn’t mean your wardrobe has to be. Jewel tones will liven up your winter wardrobe and compliment the natural neutral tones that we tend to gravitate towards during the colder months. Add some depth and color to your cold-weather wardrobe with vibrant jewel colors this season to avoid a stale winter style slump.

A Ruby Red Statement Piece

Can we really make it through the holiday season without a bit of vivacious, bold red? This color is used as a statement and will add a spark of life to your wardrobe.

Refresh Your Wardrobe with Emerald

Green is associated with growth and freshness, quite fitting as we near the end of this year and prepare to begin anew.

Bold Blue Sapphire

Blue has a calming, relaxing association and I can’t be the only one who could benefit from a little extra relaxation during the holidays. This is the perfect color to try in different textures and fabrics, like crushed velvet.

Golden Citrine Yellow Will Brighten Your Day

One of the most versatile and universally flattering color shades, deep gold citrine yellow is most often seen paired with neutrals but shines with contrasting colors, like red or black, as well.

December 20th, 2018 by Mary Elizabeth The Art of Styling a Red Sweater

The art of the treasure hunt is being open to any find at any time, while maintaining a greater perspective of items you’re hoping to score. That’s the thrill for me at least. I’m always looking for luxury textiles when I’m at Crossroads.  Silks, cashmere, & luxury items pull me first.  Sweaters are an absolute great item to peruse at any Crossroads.

I picked up this crimson beauty in Studio City. I’m crazy about a super soft and cozy sweater that gives a pop of color to the grayer skies of colder weather. This one boasts side slits – another super favorite fashion feature – so it’s ultra-easy to wear and lends itself very well to 501’s, another fave. Plus, it’s 90% merino // 10% cashmere.

Are you a sweater person? How do you like them? Fitted?  Turtleneck? Ultra Chunky? Cropped? Oversize? Or ALL of the sweaters (like me)?

Denim will always be held close to a fashion girl’s heart. We love our denim and our denim loves us; it’s a closet staple as trends come and go. But there comes a time to experiment and step outside of the fashion box. I’ve been noticing a lot more trousers over denim on my blog roll lately, and I, for one, am all for it! I’ve been swapping out my denim for more trouser styles too. Styled with tees, sweaters, blazers, and bodysuits, trousers are a sophisticated, refreshing change to your wardrobe.

Check out these seven denim-less blogger outfits to inspire you this week!
