Blog: Crossroads Style

February 22nd, 2018 by Jennifer Beile Crossroads Style Council Road Trip!

If you follow Crossroads on Instagram, you may have seen that the SoCal members of the Crossroads Style Council took a road trip to Santa Barbara together. We met early in the morning to drive up the beautiful coast to the Crossroads store on State Street, and we were challenged to  create an outfit in just one hour (you can see all those looks below!).

After styling up our looks (and collectively buying so many goodies!), we walked over to eat at the newly opened Smithy Kitchen + Bar, which was a hit! If you’re in the area, it’s a great place for a leisurely lunch break. After lunch, we stopped for a coffee refuel at The French Press and headed back to Los Angeles.

I had been to Santa Barbara only once before, and this trip really solidified that I am officially in love. The entire town is darling, especially the neighborhood the store is in! We would love to see you in your Crossroads neighborhood, where you eat, drink, and play! Hashtag #CrossroadsNeighborhood on Instagram to share your community with us.

Remember to hop over to the Crossroads Instagram and YouTube channel to see more from our day out!

December 22nd, 2016 by Samantha Weaver Goodbye, 2016! It’s been a ride.

2016 may not have been our favorite year, but it wasn’t a total loss, right? I mean, a year that gave us the OK to wear sweatpants to work and brought back bomber jackets can’t be all bad!

Crossroads had a pretty good year overall; we opened a new store in Houston, Texas, and we turned 25!

Looking back over all the photos we took in 2016 makes saying goodbye just a little bit harder. Let’s hope for a 2017 full of laughter, community, family, and, well… great shopping! Thanks for being part of the Crossroads family and for selling, trading and shopping with us. We’ll see you in 2017!

February 19th, 2016 by Samantha Weaver WWD MAGIC 2016: What We Bought

Our buying team just returned from WWD MAGIC, and we can’t wait to reveal this year’s new and returning trends for spring and summer 2016. We shopped and walked (6.86 miles in one day, according to my Fitbit) and shopped some more to fill our stores with everything from festival wear to edgy activewear.

So what are some of the new trends to look forward to at Crossroads this summer? Western-inspired pieces like red bandanas, braided denim detailing and structured hats were a big surprise—and a big hit! If the whole prairie look is going a little too far for you, there was a lot of carry-over from 2015, including ’70s-inspired bottoms, bohemian silhouettes, and safari color stories.

Take a look at some of the styles and décor that inspired us at WWD MAGIC 2016!

January 20th, 2016 by Samantha Weaver Welcome to Boulder, CO

You may have heard the good news that Crossroads is now open in Colorado! Located at 1545 Pearl Street in the heart of bustling downtown Boulder, our 34th store location resides in a historic building just steps away from the Pearl Street Mall.

Boulder is located at the base of the Rocky Mountains and, despite the cold winter temperatures, is sunny about 300 days of the year. It is also home to the University of Colorado’s largest campus, making Boulder an increasingly young and active town.

Finding places to eat and drink around our store is super easy because of our central location. Looking for a strong cup of coffee? Head next door to The Cup for a double-shot latte and a homemade cookie.

For a quick lunch run, across the street to LYFE Kitchen or the Organic Sandwich Company. They serve up healthy sandwiches on homemade pretzel bread. Make sure to add their homemade giardiniera—it’s spicy and delicious!

For some post-shopping brew, pop into the Bohemian Biergarten just 3 blocks west on 13th street. They host a number of onsite events, including comedy and trivia nights, and you absolutely must try their pierogies and spätzle.

Still hungry? Head over to Pizzeria Locale for a Napolitano pizza, contorni from a wood-fired oven and their twist on a classic negroni. Trust me.

Follow our team on Instagram @crossroads_colorado for a look inside the store and for new items arriving daily.

See you soon in Boulder!

October 3, 2015 by Gina Nowicki Meet Our Fashion Team: Jaren Greene

We love our staff, and it goes without saying that they’re the invaluable backbone of our business.  In our ongoing series, “Meet Our Fashion Team,” we’re excited to introduce a few of them to you!  And if they inspire you to start your own career in fashion, check out our most recent job listings here.

Meet: Jaren Greene
Job Title: Floor Supervisor in Chicago, IL
Working at Crossroads since: August 2013

What’s the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is buying in clothes. I love watching what flows in and out of the store, and I like to see what trends people are into.

Tell us about a favorite piece that you bought with your employee discount:
My Frye riding boots– I had the exact boots on my wish list! I get so many compliments on them.

Where can we find you when you’re not at work?
When I’m not at work, I’m usually somewhere watching YouTube bloggers talk about makeup, fashion and beauty subscription boxes.

Which songs are on repeat in your life right now?
Pretty much any Beyonce or Nicki Minaj song. Also, Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud“– I love when it plays in the store.

What are you going to be adding to your wardrobe this fall?
Low, distressed moto boots, because they will make any outfit a little edgier. I’m also adding Sorel boots for Chicago’s crazy winter months; they are very cute and warm.
