Blog: Crossroads Style

It’s not uncommon to depend on denim once the seasons change and the temperatures lower. It’s also too easy to get into a style rut when depending on one type of bottom for the entirety of your seasonal wardrobe.  Give your denim a break and be inspired to take a more creative approach with your fall dressing – without wearing a single pair of jeans.

Take your jumpsuits beyond spring and summer and add a jacket or sweater as an outer layer.

Add some texture with fall’s hottest trend, corduroy. Find a two piece set like Olivia and mix and match with your wardrobe throughout the season.

Trade in your true blues for a pair of camel or brown trousers for an authentic autumnal look.

Throw a blazer over your favorite midi and complete the outfit with a pair of boots to take you from work to date night.

Suits are no longer resigned to work wear, and have quickly become a go-to favorite for casual wear in place of denim.

Swap out your favorite jeans for a statement making skirt.

Instagram is my most used source for style inspiration. I follow countless accounts: bloggers, models, celebrities, street style stars and their photographers. I gather ideas from the use of colors, movement, and lighting and often find myself looking forward to seeking out the perfect accounts to add to my collection. The blogging industry has evolved so much since the beginning days of posting outfit photos on WordPress or Blogger. Bloggers have established brands, created extended business lines and products, and created a platform for fashion lovers to have access to unlimited content.

The newest avenue that style and fashion bloggers are taking over is YouTube! Style vloggers are quickly gaining traction and we are seeing more and more of our favorite traditional bloggers creating video content using YouTube or Instagram. I have noticed myself focusing more on video content from my favorite style bloggers. I love being able to “go shopping” with someone whose style I admire, see the clothing and products in a more three dimensional way with movement and detail, and getting to know these girls on a more personal level.

Beth is one of the very first bloggers that I fell in love with and have followed since. She’s transformed her brand from a style blog to fashion and lifestyle vlog and films thrift challenges, weekly outfit videos, and style tips.
