When it comes to winter, the question on every fashionista’s mind is: fashion or function? We don’t know about you, but we’re going to invest in a shearling coat that has both.

As demonstrated by Fake Leather, a shearling trim jacket can be styled with anything and still be fashion forward—a dress included! If you’re looking to stay a bit warmer, add on a pair of nude or black tights.

Is it 65 degrees outside but you still want an excuse to wear your new shearling coat? Fake it ‘til you make it! Wear a minidress under your shearling, bundle up in a scarf and beanie, pull on some over-the-knee suede boots and achieve that “it’s kinda winter” look.

The great thing about shearling coats is that there are so many versatile styles to choose from. A black coat with tan cuffs looks great with a striped top or graphic tee. Slip on a miniskirt with tights and you have the perfect winter outfit!

There’s something so aesthetically pleasing about the way long layers look underneath a shearling coat. Add dimension to your outfit by styling oversized knit sweaters with your coat.

Karen Smith once said “In winter, we wear black.” Or she would have said it if Mean Girls was filmed in 2016, we’re pretty sure. Recreate this minimalistic look by wearing a black shearling coat and layering it with all black essentials.

A classic camel-colored shearling coat is a timeless piece that you’ll be glad you invested in. Pull off this easy look by wearing your coat over an ivory sweater and a simple pair of black jeans and accenting your outfit with a colorful clutch.

Once fall arrived, I realized my denim game could use a much-needed upgrade. I knew exactly where to go for some serious denim inspiration: self-proclaimed denim junkie Courtney of Pretty Little Fawn, because she’s my personal denim guru.

A great pair of dark denim is the perfect beginning to any fall/winter outfit. Courtney and I both naturally gravitate towards high-waisted skinny cropped denim, but this season I’m equally attracted to cropped flares, edgy distressed, and vintage-inspired styles too!

Courtney’s denim motto (and ours) is “MORE DENIM. ALL DENIM ALL THE TIME,” so I picked out a couple of styles right off our sales floor featuring brands that she swears by, including BDG, Levi’s, Zara, and Madewell.
