June 18th, 2018 by Melanie Sutrathada Round-Up: 6 Easy 4th of July Outfits

The Fourth of July is right around the corner, meaning Wednesday fireworks, beach bonfires, and backyard barbecues with friends and family are on the horizon. While you may have given some thought about what dish or drink to bring, have you decided what to wear yet? The good news is there’s no need to break the bank, because most of these pieces are already in your closet!

Keep scrolling for a fail-proof shortcut for pulling off a patriotic look.

4th of July

Amy Jackson of Fashion Jackson proves you don’t need to wear a bright and daring outfit to make a statement on the Fourth of July. Keep it simple with a white off-the-shoulder top and a pair of red heels.

Planning on having a picnic with your best gal pals to celebrate Independence Day? Opt for a romper in a chambray material or a red floral design to keep with the spirit of the season.

Feel free to get creative with your red, white, and blue outfit combinations. Tip: Start off with a classic pair of white shorts, and work your way upwards with solid blue and red pieces. (Hello, accessories!)

Going monochromatic red, white or blue is always a great choice for looking immediately put-together.

Break out your favorite patriotic graphic tees to celebrate the holiday!

A top with stars or stripes is everything you need for a festive July 4th look! The best part? You don’t need to stick to a certain color scheme to pull off these patterns!

June 5th, 2018 by Jennifer Beile 5 Summer Pieces to Buy Secondhand This Season

When you’re on a limited budget, replenishing your closet each season can be difficult, which is one of the many reasons why I love thrifting and going to Crossroads to fulfill my seasonal, trendy wardrobe cravings (Bring on the summer pieces). You may love a trend one day, but as the honeymoon phase of new clothing wears off, you may find yourself pushing it aside for some of your more classic staples. Why pay full price for something that you may not love forever?

Enter secondhand shopping.  Check out 5 summer pieces I’ll be looking for at Crossroads.

Midi Dresses
Last week I shared my favorite midi dresses for this summer, and I hope it inspires you to find your favorite.

Ruffles
If you’re like me and have shied away from ruffles since childhood, you may be wary about this summer trend. Fear not, ruffles can be fun and age appropriate.

June 4th, 2018 by Melanie Sutrathada 6 Ways to Add More Color into Your Wardrobe

If you’ve considered yourself as a person who can only wear neutral or black color palettes, I’m here to tell you that adding a little extra color to your wardrobe goes a long way! Add small statement pieces in shades of sunshine yellow, red and violet, and you’ll find your outfits look more put together and curated. The best part? Chances are that you can easily recreate the looks below with pieces you already own.

Here are 6 ways to put some more color in your outfit!

pop of color
Try adding that extra pop of color by styling a bright colored blouse under your overalls. Follow up with a pair of shoes in a similar shade.

As an alternative to denim jeans, consider wearing a pair of bright colored pants.

Fashion tip: you can never go wrong with a bright yellow dress. Throw a denim jacket on top to balance the color.

Don’t be afraid to indulge in complementary colors. Take a style cue from influencer Grasie Mercedes and pair purples and yellows together.

It seems like every fashion girl has at least one pair of bright colored shoes in their wardrobe, and we can’t get enough of them in yellow!

Take a look at some of my favorite ways to style a woven piece with your summer wardrobe!

July 18th, 2017 by Melanie Sutrathada 6 Outfits to Wear at the Beach

As the temperatures start to rise, it’s only natural to hit the beach for some vitamin D and relaxation. Whether you plan on reading by the water or going for a bike ride along the boardwalk, here are a few trendy cover-up options you can wear for any beach occasion.

Any of these outfits is summer-approved and fail-proof for the beach:

beach

Transition from beach day to bonfire with a lightweight sweater. A sweater worn over swimsuit bottoms—as done here—is the perfect look for cozying up next to a bonfire.

A pair of high-waisted shorts is a closet staple for summer. Want to show off your new bathing suit top? Switch out the usual crop top piece for a tankini or bralette bathing suit top.

P3 - Little Blonde Book

Without a doubt, a pretty patterned dress is always a go-to option for the beach. They’re easy to take on and off if you need to tan or jump into the water (I’m always tempted to do the latter!).

Nail perfect beach style by throwing on a romper over your bathing suit. The one-piece won’t take up much room in your bag, making it perfect for when you’re on-the-go.

P5 - The Dandy Liar

A two-piece separate outfit has everything you need to feel beach-time ready. Top off your outfit with a round handle or straw bag that can hold all of your beach essentials.

P6 - The Viva Luxury

Take a style cue from Annabelle Fleur and wear a dress with a plunging neckline to show off a peek of your bathing suit without going overboard.
