September 12, 2024 The Plaid Jacket: 6 Ways to Wear It
Have you tried a plaid jacket in your fall wardrobe? If you’re unsure which style is best or how you’d wear it, here are 6 ways that stand out to us.
1. Cropped
We can’t get over this cropped version in a bomber style. It’s paired to perfection with wide-legged denim, and the shearling collar is A+.
2. Vintage-Styled
A plaid jacket can last for years, so it’s no surprise you can find plenty of vintage versions. We like how this red and black version is buttoned up like a shirt, with a square silk scarf and brooch added for a touch of whimsy.
3. Sporty
For weekends and other casual days, it’s a great warm layer over activewear or paired with cargo pants.
4. Dressed Up
With it’s button-up style, you’ll find it consistently works with trousers too. Love the cuffed sleeves here.
5. Paired with a Fall Hat
Complete the classic fall look with a felted hat or beanie.
6. Mixed with Brights
Put some extra pep into fall and winter days by matching your plaid jacket with brightly-colored accessories. We love these neon pops of color.

September 6, 2024 How to Get Started in Fashion
Our best tip for how to get started in fashion is to work in a retail location for your favorite brand. In these positions, you quickly learn about store merchandising, seasonal retail trends, and the best practices in customer service.
Even better, you begin to build a network of fashion enthusiasts like you who love identifying the latest trends and assisting customers with their fashion selections.

At Crossroads, we offer even one more valuable fashion industry skill: buying. Through our formal training, our buyers learn how to select and price clothing for their store’s inventory. And since the clothing is in their own store, they can see which of their picks sell best. It’s real-time training that’s hard to find in other retail settings.
Plus, working in resale fashion means you’re part of the sustainable fashion movement, keeping clothing out of landfill and giving preloved clothes a chance at a second life.
Did we mention there’s an employee discount too?

August 28, 2024 The Trench Coat: An Essential
A trench coat is a fall staple that needs no introduction. While typically seen in tan, we find that ones in black, charcoal, and navy are just as versatile.
It’s the first coat we wear as the temperatures cool, and the last one we put away when summer nears. Not too heavy, the trench coat is an easy layer to choose.
You’ll spot them in our stores this season, so keep an eye out for one that suits your style. Maybe you’ll wear one with a tee and jeans, or maybe you’ll find one to elevate your favorite sweat suit.
Have a gently used one that you no longer love? We have a solution for that too! Bring it in to our selling counter for a buyer assessment. You could earn cash or trade credit.
Take a glance at some of the trench coat looks we just added to our inspo board from Instagram.

August 22, 2024 Where to Sell Clothes This Fall
The question of where to sell clothes might be on your mind as you start your fall shopping. With new trends and cozy pieces being added to your wardrobe, how do you clear your closet of used clothing you no longer love?
We like to start by sorting clothes into two piles: one for donation and one for selling. Clothes that have potential to earn you cash or trade are 1). on current trend, 2). from a popular label, and 3). gently used. Put the sellable items aside.
Crossroads has two selling options for you at this point!
First, you can visit any Crossroads store location and have a buyer assess your clothing on the spot. No appointment is needed; you just stop into the store and add your name to the waitlist.

For the items the buyer decides to purchase, you will earn a percentage of what they price the item for. You can decide on your payout right away, or ask them to keep the amounts in your personal digital account for another visit.
Second, you can sell your clothing from home with the Crossroads Sell by Mail service. Order a bag online, fill it up, and send it off with its pre-paid postage. You won’t receive your payout as quickly, but it’s so convenient.
So, where to sell clothes this season? We hope you choose us!
