January 9, 2025 Capsule Piece: A Silk Top

There are seasonal on-trend pieces, and then there are timeless capsule pieces. We prefer to fill our closets with a balanced mix of both, and we noticed that one capsule piece that never gets stale is the silk top.

The reasons are simple: the soft natural fabric is seasonless and the piece can act as either a styling layer or take the spotlight on its own.

Keep scrolling to see the wide range of silk top styles we found on Instagram, from blouses to shells to scarf-inspired to wrap. We think there is a well-suited piece for everyone.

We couldn’t help but notice how silk looks as fitting with denim and leather as wrap skirts and trousers. Now that’s versatility!

January 7, 2025 5 Fabulous Secondhand Store Fashion Finds

Visiting a secondhand store soon? Here are 5 fashion finds that always make our day.

1. Outerwear

When the weather cools, a quality outerwear piece can make all the difference. Whether it’s a lightweight denim jacket for spring afternoons or a wool overcoat for East Coast winters, finding gently used additions to your closet is a major score. Buy-sell-trade shops like ours take it to another level, curating only the best pieces for you to shop.

2. Jewelry

We adore accessories and count on them to complete our daily looks. When visiting a secondhand store, we search out the jewelry, where we look for vintage and capsule pieces like hoop earrings and chunky gold chains. We’ve even found like-new preloved designer sunglasses at a fraction of the original cost.

3. Leather Handbags

A well-structured leather handbag will stand the test of time with good care. We look for timeless styles like satchels and crossbody bags, and appreciate how the soft wear of a pre-owned bag makes it look more relaxed.

4. Treasures at the Register

Looking for the very best pieces? Head straight to the register. This is usually where the store will keep its most valuable pieces on shelves or in cases. Take a glimpse here of what you could find recently at one of our store register areas. (Hint: follow us on Instagram for more store peeks like this).

January 3, 2025 The Tweed Jacket: A Winter Classic

The tweed jacket comes in two fashionable flavors: the box style and the blazer. Both are fall and winter staples in our books, particularly because the woolen weave of tweed is both durable and soft. On top of that, these are high-quality pieces that fall in the “fashion investment” category.

The Box-Style

You can’t help but get Chanel vibes from this jacket cut, whether or not the piece is designer. This style typically is adorned with large gold or silver buttons and square pockets. Even with a t-shirt and loose jeans, this piece can elevate an entire look. It’s one of our favorite closet finds.

The Blazer

Usually two-button, with a wide lapel, the blazer style is the layer to grab when a coat is too heavy. Or, you can follow the lead of the stylish folks below who layered it under an overcoat. Like the box-style piece, it looks modern when worn with denim and trainers.

December 31, 2024 Styling Tall Boots This Season

Fall and winter call for tall boots! If you have a pair you’re ready to wear for work or play, we have some styling ideas to help you plan your next look. Check out 6 ways we love to wear them.

1. Paired with Tights

We consider this the easiest was to show off tall boots! Add a pair of tights for warmth and style. You can even choose a bright hue or textured knit for more visual interest.

2. Coupled with Leggings

Elevate your favorite leggings with this classic riding look. A turtleneck and tweed blazer complete the outfit, all while keeping you warm and comfortable.

3. Matched with a Mini

Make sure those boots are the main feature by pairing them with a mini skirt or dress. The flannel mini dress shown here hits all the right notes.

4. Pulled Over Jeans

You know your skinny jeans are just calling for a boots meetup. Add in a puffer jacket to complete this favored winter look.

5. With a Long Dress

We like to add a long ribbed knit dress for a simple and effortless look, and we really love the monochrome pairing here. Plus, how cute is that belt bag??

6. Make Them Preppy

Pair them with a turtleneck sweater and wool plaid skirt for the ultimate preppy winter look. A pair in suede would be perfect.
