April 3, 2025 The Chunky Shoes We’re Seeing Everywhere

Chunky shoes are back in a big way this spring—and we’re not mad about it. These bold, statement-making styles are the perfect way to add a little edge to your everyday outfits. From updated classics to fashion-forward favorites, chunky shoes are walking straight off the runway and into our closets.

You’ll find them paired with wide-leg jeans, flowy dresses, and tailored trousers alike. Major plus: there’s a chunky shoe for everyone—whether your style leans sporty, polished, or playfully retro.

We’re seeing our favorite brands leading the charge this season with styles that are both versatile and unexpected. Whether you’re dressing up for a spring brunch or just looking to elevate your grocery store run look, these shoes have you (and your feet) covered.

Here are 3 types of chunky shoes you’ll see everywhere this spring.

1. Chunky Loafers

Let’s start with a classic. Loafers have long been a wardrobe staple, but this spring they’re getting a major update with thicker soles, bold hardware, and unexpected colorways. Think sleek black leather with a lug sole, or creamy patent with a platform heel. Pair them with cropped trousers or a pleated mini skirt to balance the weight of the shoe with lighter, spring-friendly fabrics. We love styling them with ankle socks or sheer tights for a bit of preppy charm. These are the kind of shoes that say, “I’m polished, but I’m not trying too hard.”

2. Retro-Inspired Sneakers

You know we can’t resist a sneaker moment, especially one that feels both nostalgic and modern. This season’s chunky sneakers are taking inspiration from the early 2000s with their exaggerated soles, mixed materials, and colorblocking. They’re the kind of shoes you’ll find yourself reaching for again and again, whether you’re running errands or exploring a new city. Comfort + cool factor = a win-win in our book.

3. Platform Sandals

As the weather warms up, we’re ready to let our toes out—and what better way to do it than in a chunky platform sandal? This spring, it’s all about height, texture, and playful details. Look for styles with woven straps, padded footbeds, and thick rubber soles that give you a little extra lift without compromising on comfort. Platform slides and flatforms are especially popular, and they pair effortlessly with everything from denim cutoffs to floral midi dresses. Now’s the time to add a pair to your spring rotation.

March 31, 2025 Women’s History Month Employee Spotlight: Chanel

All month long for Women’s History Month, we’ve introduced you to women leaders at Crossroads who play a key role in keeping our stores running smoothly.

Today we’d love for you to meet Chanel Tanuvasa, a Hub Manager in our New York region. Chanel’s about to celebrate 6 years with Crossroads!

Meet Chanel

Chanel

Hi Chanel! Please tell us about your career journey at Crossroads.

My first experience with Crossroads was in high school. Our Irvine, California, location was just a five minute walk from my school. I would visit the store on my lunch or after class and spend all my babysitting money there (worth it).

I started working for Crossroads as a Buyer in 2019 and grew into a Hub Manager over the next six years. I’ve worked in six different locations throughout Orange County, Los Angeles, and New York. I soaked up all the training, working alongside some of the best people and the best clothes.

What part of your career are you most proud of?

There are so many things I’m proud of! I’m proud of myself for finding a career with a company that’s authentic to me. I’m proud of the collective success I’ve seen my colleagues achieve with Crossroads. But I think I’m most proud of my teams and the managers I get to work with daily. Seeing people that you’ve hired flourish and grow is one of the best feelings you can have as a leader.

What’s your favorite part of the job?

The people. Crossroads has brought so many like-minded and inspiring people together. Working alongside your leaders, learning from your teams, and seeing everyone’s growth and success is so awesome. The culture that Crossroads has instilled in me as a growing leader has fueled a lot of my decisions, and it has allowed me to be part of other people’s growth paths as well. I think the growth we achieve together as a team and a company will always be my favorite part of my job.

What advice would you give to people who want to start a career in fashion?

Find a company you believe in and you’ll succeed. I love clothing, people, and fashion, and I found a job where I can surround myself with them daily. I didn’t know that I could actually build a career with all of these, but Crossroads allowed me to do that.

What do you love to do on your day off?

Since I already work in an environment where I get to shop every day, I do all my other favorite things on my days off. I enjoy good food, listen to good music, spend time with my favorite people, and indulge in my deliciously average $7 NYC coffee.

March 27, 2025 Women’s History Month Employee Spotlight: LaCienne

For Women’s History Month, we’re sharing stories from some of the women leaders at Crossroads who play key roles in the company’s success.

Today, we’re going behind the scenes at our corporate office to introduce you to LaCienne Bryant, the company’s Controller.

Meet LaCienne

LaCienneLaCienne, what does a typical work day look like for you?

My typical day is a mix of tasks focused on overseeing the financial operations of the company and engaging with my team, department leaders, and bank partners.

What’s your favorite part of the job?

My favorite part is team leadership. I get to collaborate across all company departments through financial planning and problem solving.

What advice would you give to people who want to start a career in finance?

Thinking back, I was really fortunate to have a mentor early in my career. I would advise someone interested in finance to find a solid person in the field that can help them learn beyond the textbook rules and guidelines. That way, they will develop a strong understanding of the fundamentals of finance and accounting.

I’d also recommend that they never stop learning, be patient and flexible, maintain a high level of integrity, and build solid relationships with colleagues. Most importantly, do your best –and remember to smile!

What do you love to do on your day off?

On my day off, I love to have fun with my first and only grandson, create memories with my loved ones, listen to live music, and relax near a body of water. Oh, and going to the spa!

March 25, 2025 by Salma Habashi Styling The Eclectic Spirit

Eclectic fashion is all about embracing individuality and mixing together different styles, textures, and influences to create a unique, personal look. If you’re drawn to this vibe, you could be an eclectic spirit!

In this case, you’re likely a fan of keeping a wardrobe that reflects your personality and mood– whether the styles are pulled from vintage, boho, modern, or streetwear trends.

If you don’t know where to start, here are 3 key tips to putting together a fabulous eclectic look to match your spirit:

1. Utilize your neutral bases

Contrary to the end result, many times an eclectic look starts with a clean slate like a simple black dress or jeans. From there, layer on pieces that speak to you. Perhaps that’s a chunky sweater, a scarf, or a mesh shirt. Mixing fabrics is key; think silk with denim or velvet with leather in order to create contrast and visual interest.

2. Don’t shy away from bold colors or patterns

Stripes, plaid, and florals can all coexist if you balance them out thoughtfully. The key is to let your creativity shine while keeping the overall vibe harmonious. Maybe placing a statement piece like a bold hat or bright shoes can tie it all together.

3. Accessorize freely

When accessorizing with jewelry, consider layering necklaces and wearing mixed metals, piling on tons of rings and bracelets. You can also pop on a few belts, wear an oversized pair of sunnies, or add a colorful bag. There is never such a thing as too many accessories.

At the end of the day, showcasing your eclectic vibe is an art form. So trust your instincts and have fun experimenting with different colors, textures, layers, and genres. The beauty of styling the eclectic spirit is that there are no rules, only possibilities.

Here’s a few looks to inspire you.
