Oh my, there were these beautiful heeled leather black mules. They were amazingly chic and a sad loss..

What is your summer uniform?

Year round, I long for comfort, so my go-to summer uniform is high-waisted shorts, a crop top paired with a maxi cardigan and some comfy slip-ons.

Favorite thing about working at Crossroads?

My favorite thing about working at Crossroads would have to be seeing people light up when they come across things they absolutely fall in love with and can’t find anywhere else.  Also, the environment-can’t forget about that!

There was an obi belt that was in perfect condition. The seller told me that it was expensive but she didn’t want to keep it any longer. I had intentions of putting the belt aside to purchase, but the day got busy. Later that day, a gentleman came to the register with several items including the obi belt! I was in shock and totally thrown off guard. I really wanted that belt and it definitely got away.

What is your summer uniform?

My summer uniform is a really nice pair of high-rise denim skinny jeans, a loose fitting tank with a bright colored bralette underneath, cute strappy sandals, a cross-body bag and hoop earrings.

What is your fall uniform?

Skinny jeans, black turtleneck, a great oversized loose sweater/cardigan and ankle boots in black or brown with a matching leather backpack.

What are you dying to see come into your store?

Valentino Rock Stud heels in any color, size 7.5 or 8.

Top tips for selling with us?

Comb through the items you are bringing to sell first. Be sure they are in great condition (no stains, tears, buttons missing, unwanted holes).

Favorite thing about working at Crossroads?

Finding one-of-a-kind pieces that I wouldn’t find at a retail department store. The employee discount is also my favorite.

When you’re traveling, one of the best things to throw on in the a.m. is a look that can take you from day to night in a flash! Opt for a lightweight midi or maxi dress to do the trick! Wear it with wedge sandals for a more elevated vibe and you’ll be ready for any activity!

The number one rule to keep in mind when packing shoes for your getaway is to make sure they are comfortable! A strappy pair of sandals like these will be great for wearing with just about any look when you’re traveling!

TOO MANY TO REMEMBER THEM ALL!  But the most significant one was a Louis Vuitton mini backpack. It was a little too pricey for me, so I was hoping it would eventually get marked down, but of course it never did! I’ve learned that what’s meant to be mine will be. That is my way of finding peace- haha!

What is your summer uniform?

For everyday: jeans and a cute tank top with sandals. I could live in flip flops during the summer, but I definitely try not to! On days I want to feel more feminine/have something special to do, my go-to is a comfortable but cute floral dress. I’m a huge sucker for a pretty floral print!

What is your fall uniform?

Jeans, a chunky cardigan/sweater or flannel with ankle booties. I also love wearing skirts + dresses w/ tights during fall.

What are you dying to see come into your store?

-A Chanel quilted purse.
-A Louis Vuitton bag!
-A black leather mini backpack.

  1. Definitely start by browsing in-store as well as online to see the brands/styles we sell before you come in.
  2. Download our app and put your name on the waitlist. That way you can show up right before we call you instead of waiting long!

Favorite thing about working at Crossroads?

There are many things I love about working at Crossroads, but my favorite would have to be knowing that by working for Crossroads, I’m contributing to helping our environment, earth and community. I’m passionate about fashion (obviously), but also about helping our world become a better place. Crossroads reminds me that I’m on the right track.

May 21st, 2019 by Jennifer Beile The Future of Fashion: Will Comfort Prevail Over Aesthetic?

The debate over comfort and style have recently come to a head. The two do not have to be mutually exclusive. Is it perhaps that our definition of style and the traditional aesthetic are gradually changing over time? Fashion used to be used as a way to speak to one’s social and economic status, and in some ways it still is. Not everyone can afford designer clothing and accessories and all it takes is a simple Google search to confirm the price of something, therein by being able to pigeonhole one in a category.
Maybe as time has passed and humanity has evolved, we no longer feel the need to separate ourselves by social and economic classes, thereby making us feel more comfortable with being, well (physically) more comfortable. Whatever the reason is that comfort is seeming prevailing over (traditional) style aesthetic, check out 5 trends that are more comfortable than classically stylish.

“Dad” Shoes

From trainers to “mandals”, or man sandals, the “Dad” shoe trend has been steadily gaining traction since the popularity of the chunky trainer last year. This season, the trend continues with the dad sandal, or “mandal”. While some brands are producing these sandals with more feminine touches and prints, the basic man sandal is trending on style bloggers, fashion influencers, and the runway. The rise of dad shoes, as with flat shoes in general, prove that comfort is trending over style in footwear.

Fanny Packs

Fanny packs, or belt bags as the modern updated style has been coined, have seeming begun replacing larger bulky bags, designer bags, and trend-ridden bags. The smaller, more compact style of a belt bag is more comfortable to wear, convenient on the go, and forces us to de-clutter our lives. And let’s face it, when our purse is clean and organized, our life begins to feel more clean and organized.

The Demise of Skinny Jeans

We will always love our skinny jeans; there is no question about that. But we have seen a rise in a more relaxed fitting denim and pant style, in general, the last few fashion seasons. I, for one, am all for this trend, of course, still loving my skinnies and wearing them with pride, but as a mom of a busy toddler, I must say that I am enjoying bottoms with a bit more room to breathe lately.

Bike & Bermuda Shorts

While neither are my cup of style tea, I appreciate the sentiment of longer, more comfortable shorts, whether it is because they are spandex or a looser fitting knee length short, over a more traditional style of denim shorts that are cut too short and will inevitably ride up.

Athleisure

Athleisure has long been the uniform of many stay-at-home moms, the quick option when needing to run all the errands on a weekend, and the look of the gym rat. But athleisure has since expanded its repertoire to anyone who needs just a bit more comfort in their life.
