April 30, 2024 Where Can I Sell Used Clothes for Money?

A very common question is, where can I sell used clothes for money? We understand the feeling. Sometimes, you just want to clean out your closet and turn preloved pieces into cash.

You can always count on Crossroads stores for selling your clothes, but did you know we have another solution if you don’t live near one of our stores (or don’t have the time to visit)?

It’s called Sell by Mail, and it’s free to get started.

Here’s how it works. Order a free bag from our website and check out our selling guide to learn what styles, trends, and labels we’re currently looking for.

Locate those gently used items in your closet and wait for your bag to arrive. Check each piece to make sure it has no stains or damage.

When your bag arrives, fill it up! It arrives with a pre-paid shipping label so you can  drop it off at your local UPS store or schedule a pick-up.

Then, just wait to hear back from our Sell by Mail buyers. They’ll let you know when your bag has been processed, and how much you can expect in cash (via Zelle payment) or store credit.

Give it a try!

April 25, 2024 Styling a Lace Up Top

A lace up top may sound like a tricky fashion piece to style, but we find that they’re so pretty they stand out on their own. That means you can wear them with everyday items you have in your closet. Just look at what we paired them with below!

Denim

A super simple easy match! A lace up top will dress up your favorite pair of jeans any day of the week.

Blazer

This style of top may feel casual, but there are so many styles that can be easily paired with a more sophisticated piece like a blazer.

This one in an A-line shape is particularly fitting.

April 18, 2024 Stores That Buy Used Clothes

There are very few stores that buy used clothes. You can try selling your clothes online through sites like eBay, try to make a deal with an interested buyer on Facebook Marketplace, or try one of the many peer-to-peer apps that require you to negotiate with a stranger.

But to just walk into a store and ask a buyer to purchase your gently used preloved clothing? So you can walk out that day with cash in hand? Not so easy.

That’s why you need to know about buy-sell-trade fashion retailers like Crossroads, a store that buys clothing from the public all day, every day. With store locations across the U.S., you just visit with your clothing, add your name to the waitlist, and wait to be called. No appointment is even necessary. The best part? While you wait, you can shop the store’s curated racks of excellent condition secondhand clothing and start dreaming of how you’ll spend your newfound cash or store credit.

Crossroads is just one of the stores that buys clothes, but there are honestly not that many. If you can’t find a buy-sell-trade store near you, Crossroads has that covered as well. Try their Sell by Mail option!

April 16, 2024 We’re Wearing: Loose Fitting Shorts

Loose fitting shorts are already finding their way into our wardrobes this season. It doesn’t take too many sunny days for us to declare it’s warm enough to wear them (even when the weather isn’t quite there yet).

These summer essentials appear in our current selling guide and are just waiting to be worn with polo shorts or rugby shirts for a sporty classic look (another one of the styles we highlighted in our current selling guide). We like them in all their variations, from cargo cuts to simple drawstring styles.  You can even create your own with denim cutoffs.

You will find them in less casual styles too, like pairs made in high-quality fabrics like linen. Take your look next-level to business casual by finding shorts that pair with matching blazers.

We started looking for styling inspiration that would last us through summer, and we did not come up empty-handed. Here are some of the looks that stood out.

April 11, 2024 The Best Fashion Jobs to Kick Off Your Career

Fashion jobs cover a lot of territory, from designers to corporate buyers to marketers. When you’re just getting started though, most people dip their toe in the fashion industry by working in a retail store. We agree that this is the best place to get started!

Why is that? In a retail setting, you learn a lot. You get trained on the basics of customer service, how to merchandise clothing on the sales floor, and which fashion styles and silhouettes are most popular. Additionally, in buy-sell-trade retail settings like Crossroads, you also learn the art of fashion buying!

If you didn’t know, fashion buying is a next-level skill. For example, Crossroads buyers are formally trained on how to buy clothing from the public to stock our store locations. They also stay on top of the latest trends and labels so they can select the most popular pieces for their store.

Best of all, they can see how well their selections sell, gaining fashion insights and experience along the way.
