October 26, 2023 The Flannel Fashion Trend

The flannel fashion trend has a curious way of turning up time and time again.

Maybe it’s the way it easily evokes fall and winter vibes, or maybe it’s the way it’s so easy to wear.

This year sees flannel fashion going strong again. We even featured it in our most recent selling guide.

We all know that flannel pairs perfectly with denim, but here are a few ways to style it that maybe you haven’t tried before.

With Maxi Skirts

A flannel will always be your go-to with pants and boots, but see if you can style it with your favorite maxi skirts this season.

As a Mini

Flannel shirts look great oversized and can even be belted to create a mini dress.

Wear with This Season’s Cargo Pants

Cargo pants are everywhere this season, and flannel shirts make a great pairing.

Try a Flannel Jacket or Coat

There is more than the classic flannel shirt. We’re seeing a lot of structured flannel jackets and coats in stores this year.

October 24, 2023 How to Sell Secondhand Clothes for Cash or Trade

You likely want to sell secondhand clothes if you’re in the habit of buying them.

Why? Because at fashion resale stores like Crossroads Trading, selling your pre-loved clothes allows you to earn cash or store credit that you can use for new-to-you items.

How to Sell Secondhand Clothes at Crossroads

So, how does it work?

Crossroads is always looking for current, gently-used clothing and accessories in excellent condition. Think of the pieces in your closet that you bought and just never wear. Maybe they never fit quite right or don’t match your current personal style. That’s okay – let’s find them a new home!

Bring these pieces into a Crossroads store location and sign in to our selling waitlist (bonus: no appointment is required!). A highly-trained fashion buyer will look at each piece and decide what they can buy from you that day.

Once they select their picks, they price the item for the sales floor. You earn a payout of cash or store credit based on a percentage of that amount!

Use that cash or store credit to replenish your closet with new pieces you love. Check out our brand’s Instagram feed to get some ideas of what you’ll find in our stores.

With Denim-on-Denim

Pairing denim with more denim makes a great foundational look for our boots. You probably already have a denim shirt or jacket waiting in your closet.

With Striped Sweaters

We’re seeing striped sweaters everywhere right now, and they’re just calling to be paired with light-wash denim and boots.

October 17, 2023 The Benefits of Working in a Secondhand Shop

If you want to work in a secondhand shop, there are several options. Some shops sell donations, some focus on consigning items, and then there are stores like Crossroads that offer a buy-sell-trade option.

Whichever you choose, you are likely to find yourself immersed in fashion and excellent deals. Here are 3 fun benefits that we consistently find at Crossroads.

1. Filling Your Closet with Amazing Finds

In many stores, you’ll receive an employee discount, and that’s on top of the already incredible deals you can find secondhand. Be prepared to have a closet full of fashionable and affordable finds!

October 12, 2023 3 Ways to Style a Fringe Jacket

We included fringe in our seasonal selling guide, and a fringe jacket might be the best way to wear it.

A fringe jacket is a rare find, so that’s why we keep our eyes open for them in our stores. When we do find one, we treasure it for years. Most come in long-lasting materials like leather or suede, so they’re an investment piece that can last a lifetime.

There is more than one way to wear a fringe jacket too! Here are 3 ways that we casually style this prize find.

Western Style

You can’t help but be inspired to add cowboy boots and ruffled hems, so go with it!

With Activewear

Pairing one with activewear is always unexpected. The silhouettes work wonders together.

As a Neutral

Keep the look neutral if you want to tone down the fringe. Wear a black one with a monotone look and with gray; a brown one looks great with tan pieces.

Don’t overlook a fringe jacket when you next see one in our stores! Give it a try with one of these looks, or with it’s classic match: flared denim.

There are so many excellent trends to try this season. Shop or sell them in our stores, or check our selling guide for even more to consider.
