September 16, 2021 The Art of Uniform Dressing

Do you find yourself a bit rushed in the morning? We’ve been there! You’ll find yourself out the door in no time at all once you’ve mastered the art of uniform dressing. It takes a little time investment upfront to select your personal formula, but it will make daily dressing so easy once you’ve picked one. Let’s discuss how easy this is.

The best formula is to narrow your outfits down to just three key pieces. You can then buy each piece in two or three colors and create multiple outfits for the week.

To get you started on ideas, here are some of our favorite, super-simple outfit formulas:

Jeans + t-shirt + blazer

Black trousers + oversized button-down + black slides

Black jeans + white button-down + low profile sneakers

White jeans + striped tee + blazer

Jeans + white t-shirt + trench coat

Keep scrolling to see fabulous examples of these formula looks.

How easy is that? We’re great admirers of the art of uniform dressing and love to see it on the streets. We’d love to see your outfit uniform! Share it with us on Instagram by tagging @crossroadstrading, and we may share it on our brand feed. And if you’re just getting started on finding your outfit uniform, stop into any of our stores for a little shopping inspiration. A secondhand piece is always an excellent part of a uniform outfit. See you soon!

September 14, 2021 Fresh Takes on Boucle

Boucle may conjure up images of your fancy great-aunt, Nan, but there are modern looks around it too, and it’s a style we welcome back this fall. In today’s post, let’s talk about fresh takes on boucle.

First off, we can’t talk about boucle without pointing out the iconic brand it’s associated with: Chanel. The looped yarn texture of boucle screams of the famous design house. And with that reputation, it’s no wonder that other designers repeatedly replicate the look of their popular boucle jacket. In fact, one of my favorite Crossroads purchases is a green boucle jacket by Zara that has serious Chanel vibes.

Because boucle is expected at a traditional brunch in the Upper East Side, it’s made modern by simply mixing it with more casual pieces like jeans, band t-shirts, tank tops, puffer vests, western boots, and patent leather booties. These pieces take boucle from stuffy to everyday chic.

Keep scrolling to see exactly what we mean.

The last photo is one of our favorites because it introduced us to the boucle sweater! Adding that to our fashion wishlist now.

These are just a few of the fresh takes on boucle that stood out to us, but we’d love to see your boucle looks too. Tag us on Instagram @crossroadstrading and we may even feature you on our brand feed. Or stop into any of our stores to find your own boucle piece. You’ll even find Chanel ones from time to time!

September 9, 2021 The Duvet Coat is a Dream

We’re always torn about cold weather. On one hand: well, it’s cold. On the other hand, we finally get to wear our favorite outerwear, and we love each hand-picked piece dearly. For example, the duvet coat is a dream. It’s the coat we reach for when we want to feel like staying in bed all day. It envelops us in warmth and comfort.

Because of the bulk of the duvet coat, we usually keep the layers underneath close-fitting and simple, like leggings or straight-leg denim and long-sleeve tees or turtlenecks. We also think a pair of chunky boots really complete the look.

Keep scrolling to see some excellent, cold weather-ready examples below.

Great looks, right? They’re why we’re so convinced the duvet coat is a dream, and why we love to see them on our store racks and in our closets. We’re looking to buy and sell them in the months ahead, so visit any of our store locations to find the coat of your dreams.
