March 6th, 2018 by Jennifer Beile Preserve Your Wardrobe: 5 Tips For Clothing Care

Taking care of your wardrobe will not only save you money in the long run, it will also keep your clothes and accessories looking new and clean for the duration you wear them. These tips are a great way to get the most out of your wardrobe, and they’ll help you out when you do decide to part ways with your used clothes and accessories; you’ll have more luck selling to Crossroads for cash or new clothes!

Check out five simple tips for preserving your wardrobe below!

1. Find a Tailor
It may seem counterintuitive to spend money to save money, but tailoring your investment pieces to fit you perfectly will keep you from tugging and rearranging the fabric all day. Plus, you’re more likely to wear and keep an item longer if it fits properly.

2. Learn Basic Sewing Techniques
Being able to mend simple tears or re-secure a loose button on your favorite pieces of clothing will help restore them. Fix a small problem yourself to prevent it from becoming too big to repair on your own.

3. Launder Carefully
Be sure to read and follow the care instructions on the labels of your clothing before you throw them in the washer and dryer. There is a reason different fabrics have different instructions. Additionally, not every piece of clothing needs to be washed after each wear. For example, steaming a blouse will remove wrinkles and refresh the fabric.

4. Store Clothes Properly
Knowing when to hang versus fold your clothing will help prevent stretching and wrinkling. Fold t-shirts, thicker fabric bottoms, and sweaters to keep their shape. Hang blouses, trousers, dresses, and heavier tops (like leather jackets and blazers). If you store out-of-season clothing, be sure to keep it in a cool, dry place and use moth balls or lavender.

5. Remove Scuff Marks from Shoes
You probably already have a few of the household products that will remove scuff marks from a variety of shoe fabrics, from canvas to leather. Mix equal parts water and baking soda, nail polish remover, or even toothpaste, dip a cotton ball into your cleaning solution, and use a circular motion to gently rub off scuff marks.

February 22nd, 2018 by Jennifer Beile Crossroads Style Council Road Trip!

If you follow Crossroads on Instagram, you may have seen that the SoCal members of the Crossroads Style Council took a road trip to Santa Barbara together. We met early in the morning to drive up the beautiful coast to the Crossroads store on State Street, and we were challenged to  create an outfit in just one hour (you can see all those looks below!).

After styling up our looks (and collectively buying so many goodies!), we walked over to eat at the newly opened Smithy Kitchen + Bar, which was a hit! If you’re in the area, it’s a great place for a leisurely lunch break. After lunch, we stopped for a coffee refuel at The French Press and headed back to Los Angeles.

I had been to Santa Barbara only once before, and this trip really solidified that I am officially in love. The entire town is darling, especially the neighborhood the store is in! We would love to see you in your Crossroads neighborhood, where you eat, drink, and play! Hashtag #CrossroadsNeighborhood on Instagram to share your community with us.

Remember to hop over to the Crossroads Instagram and YouTube channel to see more from our day out!

It takes creativity and courage to wear metallic pieces so boldly. The key to styling metallics? Choose smaller accent pieces, or style larger ones with minimalist pieces that won’t be too distracting. For a look at some expert styling, check out how our favorite fashion bloggers styled six different pieces to build their cohesive, fashion-forward outfits!

A pair of silver shoes are a fun way to add that extra bit of flair to your outfit.

Make the cold a little bit more bearable by picking up a shiny down coat at Crossroads!

Dive into the trend with a head-to-toe metallics-on-metallics combination.

If you want a metallic skirt to serve as the focal point of your outfit, wear it with a neutral top. If you want extra style points for creativity, pair the skirt with a sheer-colored blouse!

However you choose to add it to your closet, wear your metallic fashion with confidence!  This winter, proudly rock a bronze-colored coat as your favorite go-to coat.

Take a page out of Want Get Repeat’s style playbook and pair your metallic pants with a pop of color.
