April 2, 2023 What is Gently Used Clothing?

“Gently used clothing” is a term you’ll hear us use often. It’s our catchall phrase for clothes that meet our quality standards for purchasing an item. It’s an important assessment measure for our fashion buyers, who buy clothing all day, every day from the public.

So what exactly does gently used clothing look like? Next time you’re cleaning out your closet and considering whether to sell an item to us, check for these 3 things.

1. Minimal Wear

You know the pieces that you wear infrequently. They’re the ones you fell in love with on the rack but not when you took them home. Maybe you tried wearing the piece a few times only to decide it didn’t fit quite right. Or maybe you could never figure out exactly what to pair it with. This fashion piece has been passed over by you multiple times. It shows minimal signs of wear because you just don’t love wearing it.

2. No Signs of Damage

In a perfect world, we’d have an in-house team of tailors to sew on missing buttons or replace broken zippers, but alas, that’s not the case. Our buyers only buy in pieces that are ready to wear by their new owner. No extra work involved!

3. Freshly Laundered

Clothes that are freshly laundered are much more likely to find a new home! So while a name brand coat may be vintage in age, giving it some special attention like a dry clean could revive it to selling quality.

Now go spring clean your closets and get ready to sell your gently used clothing to Crossroads!

March 28, 2024 Metallic Fashion Pieces We Want Now

Metallic fashion pieces may seem daring, but we like to think of them as an elevated neutral.

When done well, fashion items in silver, gold, bronze, and copper add a dash of shine against your basic pieces. Even a full suit in a metallic hue can look well-composed and stunning when paired with a simple tank or sweater.

We personally like to look for metallic skirts, pants, and shorts for our closet, and we never forget to seek out metallic accessories like handbags, sunglasses, and shoes!

We’re so fond of this trend that is made our latest selling guide. Want to see the look in action? Here are some of the inspirational styling photos we found on social.

Stop in to learn more!

We’re also curious how you’re styling these pieces this season. Tag us on Instagram and you may find yourself featured on our brand feed: @crossroadstrading.

March 26, 2023 The Best Place to Sell Clothes

The best place to sell clothes is the place with the most options and the most convenience. This is exactly where Crossroads comes in.

With 4 ways to sell, you have choices! And the payout structure is simple: get 30% in cash or 50% in trade value of whatever Crossroads prices your clothing for.

1. In-Store

Crossroads has store locations across the U.S. where well-trained fashion buyers buy in clothes from the public all day, every day. No appointment is necessary, and you can even use the Crossroads waitlist app to add your name to the store waitlist while you’re headed there.

2. Drop-Off

Some Crossroads stores offer a drop-off option, where you leave your clothes with a buyer and return 24-48 hours later to receive your payout. Find your nearest store location to see if it’s offered in your area.

3. Consignment

Are you looking to sell higher-end labels or designer items? Crossroads offers consignment for these types of pieces. You’ll have to wait for the item to sell to get your payout, but the wait means a higher cash payout rate (50-70%!).

4. Sell by Mail

If you aren’t near a Crossroads store, or just don’t have time to visit one, then Sell by Mail is the option for you. Order a free shipping bag, fill it up, and send it back with its pre-paid shipping label. You can even choose to donate any unpurchased items, or have them returned for a fee. Talk about flexibility.

With a doubt, this is why Crossroads is the best place to sell clothes!

Which clothing brand(s) do you get excited to see at Crossroads?

My favorite brands at Crossroads right now would be the streetwear “skater” brands like Thrasher, Carhartt, and Dickies.

Describe your personal style in 5 words or less.

Skater boy meets world.

What is your go-to spring uniform?

Spring time in the bay area is always a bit cold so I like to wear light layered clothes like an oversized jersey and some sneakers to compliment the fit.

March 21, 2024 The Return of Lowrise Pants

Lowrise pants have returned, along with their raving fans and disappointed critics. Some love the daring but relaxed look, while others rank them as their least-favorite denim fit. The debate spans decades.

For fans like us, there is no better pairing for lowrise pants than easy pieces like a tank top or cropped top.  Shoe choices are easy too, running the wide range from flip-flops to low profile sneakers to chunky platforms.

Add a sleek bun, movie star sunglasses, and a great handbag, and you will have a complete undercover celebrity look.

Keep scrolling to see outfits with lowrise pants that caught our attention. Notice that they come in many styles: denim, wide-leg trousers, and cargo pants to name a few.
