March 19, 2023 3 Tips to Shop Used Clothes Like a Pro

When you shop used clothes like a pro, you walk out of stores with the best secondhand gems for your closet.

And with enough practice, you can walk confidently into a fashion resale store like Crossroads and quickly find exactly what you’re looking for. We even have 3 tips that will take you to pro status!

1. Have a Plan

Before you shop for any clothes, take a look at what you currently have in your closet. Look for outfit gaps that you want to fill, like a black leather jacket, metallic sandals, or a dress for upcoming summer weddings.

Make a note on your phone of what you’re looking for so you’ll have it handy when you stumble upon a used clothing store. It will keep you focused as you shop.

(BTW – If you find pieces you no longer love while checking your closet, pull them off the hanger or out of the drawer. Consider bringing them to Crossroads to sell for cash or store credit).

2. Check Behind the Register

Secondhand clothing stores typically keep their most coveted pieces at the register, either in cases or on shelves behind the register. This is where we know we can find some of the best pieces in the store, often designer or vintage.

3. Skim for High-Quality Fabrics

With racks and racks of clothes in front of you, it can feel a little overwhelming. We like to skim for high-quality fabrics like silk and wool. These are the pieces we know will stand the test of time in our closets and will uplevel our closet for the seasons ahead.

Give it a try! Shop used clothes with us and you’ll always find something that’s “new to you.” Don’t forget you can also sell your pre-loved clothes to us for cash or store credit.

March 14, 2024 The Appeal of Micro Bags

We’re into micro styles this season, including those always-appealing micro bags. We’ve even showcased this micro trend in our latest seasonal selling guide. Don’t forget to take a look!

Sure, you really can’t fit much in them, but they’re the accessory we continually reach for when our phone, lip gloss, and keys are all we basically need for a day or night out. The cuteness factor well makes up for the tiny shape.

Micro bags are so popular that almost every designer brand has its own version, and we’ve seen many of these styles come through our stores. In fact, you can keep scrolling to see some that we just found on our regional Instagram feeds.

March 12, 2023 The Best App to Sell Clothes

The best app to sell clothes is the Crossroads waitlist app. Let us explain exactly why.

If you’re a Crossroads seller (and we sure hope you are!),  you know that selling your clothes in one of our stores is the quickest way to turn your preloved clothes into cash or store credit.

Our buyers buy all day every day, and no appointment is necessary. You just add your name to the waitlist at the selling counter, then wait to be called by one of our well-trained buyers, who will assess and price your items.

However, you could add your name even earlier (like before you’ve even left your house!) by using the Crossroads waitlist app. Find your nearest store, and then add your name remotely. You can even see how many people are in line. If you live near multiple stores, you may want to use the app to find the shortest wait in your area.

Watch our 18-second tutorial to see just how easy it is.

Do you see why the best app to sell clothes is the Crossroads Trading waitlist app? Download it and give it a try next time you want to sell with us!

March 5, 2023 Buyer Jobs in Fashion: What to Know

Looking for buyer jobs in fashion? The type that can kick off your fashion career?

If you answered yes, we suspect you have a passion for fashion, follow the latest labels and trends, and are known as the personal stylist among your group of friends.

At Crossroads, we have store locations across the U.S. where you can get your start and, even better, grow with our company.

We train all our fashion buyers on how to trendcast and select the best pieces to bring into our stores. Our formalized training program teaches buyers which labels sell best in their specific store, how to price clothing competitively, how to authenticate designer pieces, and how to stay on top of the latest styles and trends. Some buyers even take on marketing liaison duties to promote their store on regional TikTok and Instagram accounts.

Did we mention working with others who love fashion and getting an employee discount on our already affordable prices? Get ready for a major closet upgrade.

If you’re ready to take that next step, learn more about Crossroads’ open positions. We think we have some of the best buyer jobs in fashion. We can’t wait to tell you more!

February 29, 2024 The Best Preloved Clothes in Stores Now

Preloved clothes are exactly that: clothes that once won over a shopper, only to find themselves hanging in a closet or waiting in a drawer for too long.

Maybe it’s because they never fit the owner just right, or maybe it’s because the owner changed styles. Whatever the reason, preloved clothes find a new owner and a second (or third!) life in our stores.

If you follow our regional Instagram feeds (and we really hope you do! Find some linked below), then you know that we buy in amazing used clothing all day every day. From popular mall brands to designer pieces, we stock our stores with secondhand gems.

In fact, we perused our regional feeds this morning and found some pieces we had to share. Take a look, and then plan your next visit to shop or sell!
