September 9, 2021 The Duvet Coat is a Dream

We’re always torn about cold weather. On one hand: well, it’s cold. On the other hand, we finally get to wear our favorite outerwear, and we love each hand-picked piece dearly. For example, the duvet coat is a dream. It’s the coat we reach for when we want to feel like staying in bed all day. It envelops us in warmth and comfort.

Because of the bulk of the duvet coat, we usually keep the layers underneath close-fitting and simple, like leggings or straight-leg denim and long-sleeve tees or turtlenecks. We also think a pair of chunky boots really complete the look.

Keep scrolling to see some excellent, cold weather-ready examples below.

We’re looking to buy and sell them in the months ahead, so visit any of our store locations to find the coat of your dreams. September 2, 2021 The Always-Amazing Leopard Coat

Some fashion pieces are next-level, dramatic, and eternally classic. Case in point: the always-amazing leopard coat.

I personally know that mine is brought to the front of my closet at the very first hint of fall chill in the air. I prefer the over-the-top fluffy ones, but I’ve seen beautiful versions in other printed fabrics, like silk and fleece.

In fact, the leopard coat is such a fall favorite that it almost always makes our Fall Selling Guide, just like it has this year.

If you want to see the leopard coat out in the wild for your own style inspiration, we’ve rounded up a few great looks below. We think you’ll see why every closet can use one this fall season and beyond.

August 31, 2021 Black-Owned Fashion Brands in the Spotlight

For the last year, Crossroads has been committed to putting Black-owned fashion brands in the spotlight. It’s a tough process to pick only a few favorites because there are so many to choose from!

We continue to feature brands each week on our Instagram feed, so be sure to follow along. Here are the 4 brands we featured in August:

1. Something by Sonia

The brand @somethingbysonjia is led by none other than @sonjiawilliams of Project Runway fame. We think she’s perfected the paperbag waist, as seen in her Nala Paperbag Short shown below. Visit the website here.

August 26, 2021 Crossbody Bags for Fall

When shopping at Crossroads stores, do you find yourself drawn to the racks of handbags displaying dozens upon dozens of options? You’ll find us shopping there too, especially now as we search for the best crossbody bags for fall.

Crossbody bags are a year-round staple that comes in a range of styles and materials, but for fall we prefer leather versions that match well with thick sweaters and chunky shoes. And while brown and black leather versions are the most popular choices, crossbody bags in bright colors and off-white shades shouldn’t be overlooked.

There are just 3 things to keep in mind when finding one you can wear with ease. First, look for an adjustable strap so you ensure the bag hits comfortably at your hip. Second, choose a strap material that feels comfortable at your shoulder (because you know you’re going to stuff that bag full of everything you need for a long day). Finally, check if the bag has a removable strap, because sometimes you can get both a handbag and crossbody bag in one!

Here are a few crossbody bags we found in our stores that are ready to join some fall wardrobes.

While we sell lots of crossbody bags for fall, we also buy pre-loved ones that need a new home.  So if you find yourself ready to swap out your current crossbody bags for new ones, or something else altogether, learn more about how to sell clothes in our stores.

We’re currently looking for a lot of fall pieces to buy and sell this season! Check out our Selling Guide to see what else you could sell to us for cash or store credit.
