February 15, 2024 Where to Donate to Support Black Communities

If you’re looking for ways to support Black communities this month and beyond, we’re sharing a few here that we’re donating to this month. If you’re in a position to help, we hope you feel motivated to give too.

Black Artists + Designers Guild

Black Artists + Designers Guild (BADG) is striving to build a more equitable and inclusive creative culture by supporting and advancing a community of independent Black makers in creative industries.

They’re committed to “honoring our ancestral legacies in art and design, taking ownership of our narrative, and creating spaces to celebrate Black creativity and culture. As a mission-driven organization, we live by our values, creating opportunities for our members to thrive and reaching out to industry allies to support the great work of visionary Black artists and designers.”

February 5, 2024 Spring Capsule: Ballet Flats

How cute are ballet flats? When the sun finally comes out, we kick our rain boots to the side and start checking our spring capsule wardrobe for spring favorites like these.

We wear them on repeat and pair them with skinny jeans, wide-leg pants, slip skirts, and babydoll dresses. We adore them just as much in soft ballet pink as navy or black.

At times we like to uplevel the preppy factor by adding in cardigans, pearl accents, gold buttons, and headbands.

And some of our absolute favorites this season are the pairs in a Mary Jane style.

Check out some of the looks that are inspiring us to style up our ballet flats this season.

And how can we forget about wearing them with trench coats? An outfit of straight-leg denim, ballet flats, and a trench coat is a classic Parisian look.

We have even more spring trends in mind. Take a look at our latest selling guide to learn the styles, labels, and trends we’re keeping an eye on. If you find you’re stashing away these gently used pieces in your closet, now’s the time to stop into your local Crossroads store to sell! Even easier, try Sell by Mail.

February 1, 2024 Get Sporty with a Rugby Shirt

A rugby shirt can’t help but give college campus vibes, and that’s what makes them such a fun fashion piece.

With sporty classic style making an appearance on our current selling guide, we revisited the rugby shirt this month and started scrolling our socials for outfit inspiration.

As always, rugby shirts are natural fit for baggy shorts and cuffed jeans, but what about trying it with a fringe skirt or biker shorts?

We also like to play with the two-button neckline of the shirt, sometimes opting to button up for an ultra preppy look.

Take a look at some of the outfits we added to our personal style boards.

If the sporty classic trend is not your style, we have more trends to share in our selling guide. Moody vibes, anyone?

Once you’ve decided on your outfit inspiration for the season, check your closet, clean it out, and bring in your pre-loved clothes to sell at one of our stores. You could earn cash or store credit to update your closet with new-to-you pieces.

January 30, 2024 Micro Mini Skirts Mean Spring

Micro mini skirts made major waves in the late 1960s, and they’ve remained a staple in the trend cycle ever since. They’ve seen a resurgence in the last two years, and we still expect them to see them this upcoming season.

Likely because our stores are starting to rotate their clothing styles into spring, we’ve had these adorable skirts on our minds lately. The plan: if we get our hands on them now, we’ll have them ready to kick off those first warm days of spring. Outfit ideas abound!

You can wear these minis with everything from frilly blouses to baby tees to sweatshirts. You can even play off their 60s vibe with a turtleneck and pendant necklace.

When selecting shoes, we like to pick a chunky platform, heeled boots, or loafers. Tights are our secret to wearing them well before spring is officially in the air.

Keep scrolling to see some of the looks that inspire us to keep adding micro mini skirts to our wardrobe.
