April 12th, 2016 by Jennifer Beile Top Seven Spring Wardrobe Essentials

Spring is here, which means unpredictable and temperamental weather. It’s not uncommon for it to be raining and chilly in the morning, sunny and warm by mid-afternoon, and then frigidly cold by nighttime. To prepare for the inconsistent weather, start with your wardrobe! Check out the round-up below of my top seven spring wardrobe essentials to help you survive this temperamental season.

1. Long, Lightweight Coatspring wardrobeA lightweight trench coat or duster is timeless and versatile. Layer one over your outfit during chilly spring mornings and evenings.

2. Midi CutsmidiDresses and skirts in midi cuts will keep you covered but cool—not to mention super chic.

3. Cropped TrouserstrousersIf it’s still too chilly for skirts and dresses, go for a pair of cropped trousers that can be paired with flats, boots, or heels for a classic, clean look.

4. Chambray Shirtspring wardrobeWill these ever go out of style? We think not. Timeless, chic, and versatile, a chambray shirt is the perfect weight and layering piece for spring.

5. Open ShoesopenThe early days of spring don’t call for sandals just yet, but wearing open toe, open back, or cutout shoes gives you a taste of that freedom.

6. Perfect SunniessunniesThe sun is finally shining, and what better way to accessorize than with a perfect pair of sunnies?

7. Silk Scarf
scarfIt’s time to put away the chunky knit scarves for something a bit more breathable. A silk scarf is the perfect accessory to replace a necklace or add into your hair for a fun pop of color.

The best part is that all these essentials will work with your existing wardrobe, as well as mixed and matched with each other. What is your favorite spring wardrobe essential?

April 11th, 2016 by Melanie Sutrathada 4 Gorgeous Festival Hairstyles

Festival season is officially upon us, and whether you’re headed to Coachella or watching from home, you’ll want a hairstyle that’s both gorgeous and functional. Chances are, you’ll be dancing and sweating up a storm, so effortless beauty is a must when considering festival hairstyles!

Here are my favorite ways to style your hair for the season’s music festivals.

1. The Messy Braidfestival hairstyles
Throw together a traditional French braid and gently loosen up your strands before securing your ‘do with a clear elastic. For extra texture, spray a dry shampoo into your roots and massage it in with your fingers. This is one of my favorite styles to master for a long weekend!

2. The Half Updofestival hairstyles
Feature full waves and tons of volume while keeping your hair out of your face by pulling the top half of your hair back.

3. The Milkmaid BraidP3-Milkmaid-Braid

Looking to keep your hair off your face and your neck? The milkmaid braid is perfect for sweaty weather.

4. The TopknotP4-Top-Knot
Go uber chic and sophisticated with a sleek bun at the very top of your head, or go relaxed and effortless with a loose and messy topknot. Either way, you can’t go wrong!

April 8th, 2016 by Jennifer Beile Vinyl: The Series Every Fashionista Should Be Watching

If you haven’t been watching the new HBO show Vinyl, block out your weekend for some serious bingeing. The music industry-based show is not only written well, its ’70s era fashion is downright enviable, especially in a time when the resurgence of these trends can’t ignored.

Vinyl has been a style inspiration since the series premiere in February, and it’s no wonder why. The show’s costume designer, John Dunn, who has previously worked on shows like Mad Men and Boardwalk Empire (both with perfect vintage styling too), has recreated the era’s fashion with brilliant execution; the looks are gritty, glamorous, and rebelliously rock and roll. You can learn more about how Dunn has been able to revive the ’70s for HBO here and here.

Check out my top 10 favorite looks from the series so far!
