September 5th, 2017 by Jennifer Beile The Fashion Blogger’s New Frontier: YouTube

As the Internet becomes saturated with fashion bloggers across all platforms, we’re seeing more and more bloggers turn to YouTube and adding vlogger—video blogger—to their resumes. When bloggers surpass the ‘blogger only’ status and amass a following large enough to partner with like-minded brands, they become influencers who use their own brand as marketing tools for others. They must be a multi-talented, marketing machine and take advantage of every opportunity to reach their followers and hold their attention.

Vlogging is nothing new. However,  high-profile bloggers have recently begun adding YouTube vlogging channels to their online presence. Adding vlogs means being able to show more personality. It gives bloggers a new way to share content aside from the still photographs on their blogs.  I love seeing my favorite bloggers share something a little more personal and real with their readers. The bloggers who are able to expand into video will be the bloggers who continue to grow their brand successfully.

Take a look at some of my favorite bloggers who also create great video content!

Wendy’s Lookbook

Wendy began taking advantage of YouTube long before other bloggers hopped on the train. She has gained a following of over 600,000 subscribers, with videos often breaking half a million views. Her most-viewed videos tend to fall under the “How to Wear” category; check out 25 Ways to Wear a Scarf in 4.5 Minutes (below), Maxi Skirt Pairings, and Pairings: Leather Jacket.

B. Jones Style

Beth was one of the first bloggers I fell in love with. She has always used YouTube as a tool, but she’s recently committed to posting a new video every week. I highly recommend her “What I Wore” videos, where she shares her outfits of the month. It gives me so much inspiration seeing how Beth is able to mix, match, and incorporate all her thrift and vintage finds into her wardrobe!

The Blonde Salad

Relatively new to vlogging, Chiara documents her world travels, beauty advice, and health and fitness routines for her loyal readers on her channel.

Song of Style

Aimee receives hundreds of thousands of views on her YouTube channel. Her specialty is videos showing her fans how to style one piece multiple ways. 9 Ways to Wear a White T-Shirt (below), 7 Ways to Wear Leggings, and 8 Ways to Wear a Slip Dress are a few of my favorites. Unlike many of the bloggers I love to follow, I have a small closet, and remixing is something that I practice and preach!

We Wore What

Danielle has added video to her ever-expanding blogger resume after experiencing positive feedback with her Snapchat and Instagram stories. She opens up about her beauty routines, shopping hauls, and fitness favorites on her channel.

Margo & Me

Jenny produces regular series on her YouTube channel, such as Deskside Diaries, The Beauty Edit, and My Style. They’re recorded in a makeshift studio in her dining room, bringing you closer to her everyday life. Although she only started vlogging in 2016, Jenny’s polished videos have true editorial vibes.

Something Navy

Arielle launched her YouTube channel just earlier this year, but she’s already managed to show her fans more of her personality. Between her carefully curated blog and her more personal channel, she has her followers hooked!

August 30th, 2017 by Melanie Sutrathada 6 Wedding Guest Outfit Ideas for Late Summer

Clueless about what you should wear to that end-of-summer wedding? No worries—I’ve put together not one, but six different options. Here are my favorite wedding guest outfit ideas for your next love-filled celebration:

wedding guest

A floral number that hits above the knee is a perfect choice for attending a wedding in. Pair it with an adorable clutch that holds your essentials.

P2 - Girl With Curves

If the dress code calls for something more formal, lean towards a dress in darker colors. Rock an A-line off-the-shoulder dress with your hair swept to the side for a polished, timeless look.

P3 - I Dress Myselff

When it comes to the late summertime, don’t be afraid to wear a dress that has a bit of sass to it. Opt for a dress with a small cut-out or slit to keep it flirty yet appropriate.

P4 - Lace and Locks

Keep it minimal and chic with a simple dual-toned dress.

A wedding reception is the perfect opportunity for you to bring out that vintage piece you stored away. Your look will be unique and one-of-a-kind!

P6 - With Love From Kat

For an outdoor wedding, an off-the-shoulder dress in a light, breathable material is practical and fashion-forward. Not only will it photograph well for Instagram, you don’t have to worry about it getting too hot to wear.

August 29th, 2017 by Jennifer Beile 5 Fashion Faux Pas That Became Trendy

Fashion is an outlet of expression, personal to everyone who puts thought and effort into the way they present themselves.

Yes, we love to follow trends, and we unfollow them after they have been deemed “over.” That is, of course, until they come back reinvented for the next era. And with those trends come fashion faux pas—style “mistakes” like wearing a wrinkly blouse or unfitted clothes. They can happen to anyone, and we’ve certainly looked back on some old trends as cringe-worthy. But more and more, it seems like we are saying goodbye to fashion that imposes rules on us about what we should wear.

Below, I’ve rounded up five fashion faux pas that have transcended fashion “rules” and become trendy!

1. Birkenstocks

faux pas

In the last few years, Birkenstocks somehow made the leap from unfashionable comfort shoe to “it girl” street style. These unassuming sandals can dress down many styles. Pair them with your favorite dress, denim, or trousers for a day out.

2. Fanny packs

Fanny Packs

No longer just for your dad on vacation, fanny packs are in style and have gone through a modern makeover. A fanny pack or purse belt is a fashionable alternative to a handbag when you’re on the go.

3.Mom jeans

Mom Jeans

Never mind the nickname—these aren’t your mom’s mom jeans! Natural waist, light-wash denim is back in style and giving our skinny jeans a breather. Bonus points if you can actually find a pair of vintage Levi’s 501s!

4. White after Labor Day

White After Labor Day

No need to put away your white clothing at the end of the summer! White is one of the hottest colors for the colder months.

5. Thrifted & Non-Label Clothing

When I was growing up, it was not trendy to wear secondhand or non-label clothing. Luckily for our wallets and our creativity, today it’s widespread, and we have plenty of secondhand options to shop and feed our individual style. I love seeing what other thrifters—like Beth in her thrift challenge video belowcan find!
