5 Thrifting Vloggers to Follow

YouTube has become the mecca for learning about, well basically anything you could ever need to know. In the last few years, bloggers have been branching out from the traditional blogger space and the written – er, typed – word and have begun creating original content on YouTube. You can find anything in the fashion world on YouTube, including but of course not limited to shopping hauls, beauty and style tutorials, closet and home organization, and shopping videos. Lately, I have been mesmerized by thrift shopping and haul videos to inspire my own thrifting trips. I posted a list of my favorite thrifting vloggers back in 2016 and because there has been so much expansion on YouTube, I’m adding some channels to my recommendations! Take a look at my current favorite thrifting vloggers to follow!

B. Jones Style, Beth

We all know and love Beth and to be honest, she will always be my favorite thrifting vlogger! Beth has such a wide range and whimsical style and can literally wear anything and look fabulous! I always look forward to Beth taking us along on her thrifting trips and then showing us how she styles her finds with existing wardrobe items.

Alexa Sunshine83, Alexa

Alexa is a natural born thrifter! Alexa shares shopping videos, hauls, thrifting tips, and even thrifted outfit lookbooks. I totally feel like we are constantly on the same thrifting wavelength!

Tasha Leelyn, Tasha

I adore how down to earth and real Tasha is in her videos. During her shopping videos, she explains what she’s looking for, how she chooses what to try on, and why she likes or dislikes an item. She definitely seems like someone I can spend a day thrifting with!

Studio86, Bao and Sheng

The duo’s YouTube is like a fashion blog come to life. They take us shopping, create style lookbooks, beauty and style tips and more. I love watching the interaction between the two friends, how down to earth they are with each other and how they play up their individual styles.

Jessica Neistadt, Jessica

Jessica is another thrifting vlogger that I could see myself on a thrifting date with! She radiates enthusiasm and inspires me to keep trying whenever I have an off thrift trip.

January 10th, 2019 by Jennifer Beile 3 Golden Globes Red Carpet Trends to Incorporate Into Your Everyday Wardrobe

The Golden Globes were held on Sunday, January 6th and as usual, the red carpet was amazing! See all the best celebrity looks here. The red carpet is all about glitz and glamour, and this year was no different. However, you don’t need a red carpet to wear the trends the celebrities were loving at the prestigious award show. Check out the 3 of the hottest 2019 Golden Globes red carpet trends and how to wear them in your everyday wardrobe!

The “Naked” Trend

Sheer fabrics, bustier silhouettes, and corset details were worn among the hottest stars like Constance Wu in custom Vera Wang and Kiki Layne in Dior Haute Couture. This trend is easy to replicate in the real world with a blouse or dress with sheer details, like the sleeves of Randa’s chic top.

Luxurious Velvet

Velvet is such a rich, luxe fabric and perfect for elevating an outfit during the colder seasons. Stars like Taraji P. Henson, Kaley Cuoco, and Caitriona Balfe all wore velvet on the carpet. Add a little luxe to your wardrobe with a velvet blazer, dress, pants, or even shoes.

Power Chic

Ladies we love, like Julia Roberts and Judy Greer wore powerful, chic pantsuits which have exploded in the fashion world this past year. “Crazy Rich Asians” Star  Gemma Chan even wore a Maison Valentino skirt and shorts combination and was one of the best dressed of the night. This season, trade your cocktail dress for a chic pant option when going out.

January 8th, 2019 by Jennifer Beile How to Organize Your Closet (And Keep It That Way)

It’s a new year and we often desire to start the new year fresh. For me, that typically includes refining my daily routine, restructuring my finances and money goals, and decluttering, especially – but not limited to – my closet. I love cleaning out and organizing my closet, and somehow, mere weeks later, it looks like a tornado hit it yet again. After several cycles of this happening, I’ve finally hunkered down and came up with 4 sure fire ways to keep my closet clean and organized. Read on below to cure your anxiety of tackling your closet and how to keep it clean once you do.
A neat, organized house closet.

Take EVERYTHING Out

Step one is to go through every item in your closet and donate or sell what you do not want or need any longer. The best way to do this is take everything out, evaluate it, try it on if necessary, and create piles. Donate clothes that may be out of season or style. Sell gently worn clothes that are in season and style to your local Crossroads Trading Co. And, throw away clothes that are not able to be repaired and worn any longer. If you haven’t worn it in a year, it is more than one size too big or small, or does not have sentimental value, it’s time to part with it. I repeat this large clean out twice a year and a smaller clean out each season.

Storage Solutions

My main problem has always been space. My current closet is the size of a coat closet, although deep with double hanging rods, it is overcrowded and skinny. If you can’t see or get to an item, you most likely won’t wear it. The Container Store, Target, Walmart, Amazon, etc. all have amazing storage solutions like hooks for hats and bags, shoe racks, hanging shelves, garment boxes and bins, and drawer organizers. My favorite space saving practice? If you have additional space, store seasonal items, like bulky jackets and chunky knits in storage bins or vacuum sealed bags under your bed or in the garage, during warmer seasons.

Organize by Personal Preference

How you organize the items in your closet is a personal preference, but I can provide you with a few examples that help my closet stay clean. My bulky sweaters and denim take up the most space when hung, so I keep them in hanging shelves and have freed up half of my closet. Keeping my shoes on a shoe rack keeps me from haphazardly throwing them in the closet at the end of the day. Hooks on the walls help me easily keep hats and bags organized and off of precious shelf space. I also keep like items together and in color order, from light to dark: tees, blouses, dresses, jumpsuits, etc.

Weekly Mini Clean Up

Just as any other space in your home needs to be cleaned regularly, in order to keep your closet clean a weekly mini cleanup will prevent future closet disasters. After a week of going in and out of my closet multiple times a day, laundry day, and sometimes my son finding his way in to play, it’s not exactly the picture perfect closet it is immediately after a closet clean out. A mini clean up once a week to be sure that items are hung, folded, and put away properly will keep your closet organized.

December 24th, 2018 by Jennifer Beile New Year’s Eve Style Guide: How to Look Comfy and Chic

New Year’s Eve is the biggest fashion holiday of the year. Anything goes: sequins, velvet, statement pieces, prints, metallics! But after 6 weeks of indulging, family and friend parties, traveling, and holiday stress, dressing to the nines might be a bit overwhelming.  Not to fret, it is possible to dress comfortably and festive to celebrate the last of 2018 and welcome in the new year.  Take a look at 5 ways to go from comfortable to comfortable chic with a festive twist for New Year’s Eve.

A metallic silk slip dress with strappy heels may sound perfect for kissing the year goodbye, but save yourself the pain of sore feet and bitter cold by pairing a slip dress with sneakers and a chunky knit.

Sequins are an essential part of New Year’s Eve. Skip the too tight mini dress and go for a comfortable midi skirt and a seasonal knit with simple sneakers.

Nothing says holiday like the luxe feeling of velvet. Find a relaxed fitting velvet suit and pair it with flats or, you guessed it, sneakers, for a festive outfit that feels like pajamas.

An easy way to add drama for a celebratory New Year’s Eve look is to layer a sheer dress over pants or biker shorts over a bralette.

Add metallic accents to instantly elevate your outfit from casual chic to casual festive.

December 20th, 2018 by Mary Elizabeth The Art of Styling a Red Sweater

The art of the treasure hunt is being open to any find at any time, while maintaining a greater perspective of items you’re hoping to score. That’s the thrill for me at least. I’m always looking for luxury textiles when I’m at Crossroads.  Silks, cashmere, & luxury items pull me first.  Sweaters are an absolute great item to peruse at any Crossroads.

I picked up this crimson beauty in Studio City. I’m crazy about a super soft and cozy sweater that gives a pop of color to the grayer skies of colder weather. This one boasts side slits – another super favorite fashion feature – so it’s ultra-easy to wear and lends itself very well to 501’s, another fave. Plus, it’s 90% merino // 10% cashmere.

Are you a sweater person? How do you like them? Fitted?  Turtleneck? Ultra Chunky? Cropped? Oversize? Or ALL of the sweaters (like me)?
