August 12, 2021 Y2K Fashion Inspiration

Our Fall Selling Guide is out, and it shares the trends our buyers want to stock on our store racks in the new season. One trend that stands out is the 2000’s, or Y2K, which continues its popularity streak into fall. To get you thinking about this trend, we have your Y2K fashion inspiration here, with plenty of spot-on looks that capture Y2K to a tee.

Y2K fashion is part pop of color, part bodycon, part loose fit, and part logo-inspired, with a side of mini bag. It’s based on fun and can go in any direction you want to take it. Just add your individual style.

Keep scrolling to see what we mean.

August 10, 2021 2 Ways You Save Money with Secondhand Fashion

Your style is impeccable (we see you!), and who doesn’t love to spend less on clothing? So with that in mind, do you know there are 2 ways you save money with secondhand fashion?

1. You save with lower prices.

Were you aware that resale fashion retailers like Crossroads price their items at approximately one-third of the original retail price? Since the store’s buyers only bring in excellent condition, gently used pieces, the trade-off for a secondhand piece is practically unnoticeable.

2. You save even more when you sell and trade your clothes.

On top of significantly discounted prices, there’s a way to save even more. Buy-sell-trade fashion retailers allow you to sell your pre-loved clothes for cash or store credit. In the case of Crossroads, you’ll get 30% in cash of what the item is priced for, or 50% in store credit (AKA trade). For example, if the buyer prices your item at $30, you’ll receive either $9 in cash or $15 in store credit. It’s your choice! Sound too good to be true? Get all the details here.

Buyer Inspecting Clothes

The 2 ways you save money with secondhand fashion don’t even include the best savings of all: the savings in environmental impact. Buying secondhand clothing extends the lifetime of clothing and reduces the need for new pieces to be produced. It’s a win all around. There you were just being stylish, and you were saving money and protecting the environment too. Well done!

July 29, 2021 The Style of Jean Shorts You Shouldn’t Forget

I consider myself a master creator of denim shorts, each project the result of regular jeans that have reached wear past the fun “distressed” phase. Since I still love the top fit of the jeans,  I absolutely refuse to give up on them completely.  So, reinvention is necessary. With some serious eyeballing (I’ve no time for measuring tape), I usually cut jeans into shorts I’ll pair with a swimsuit or tank top. However, with just the right pair of jeans, I sometimes aim for the style of jean shorts you shouldn’t forget: long jean shorts, or Bermuda jean shorts.

These pairs hit mid-thigh or just above the knee, offering more coverage and a looser fit. The longer length upgrades them a little, taking them from beach day appropriate to cafe lunch appropriate.

Cut them from looser jeans with a baggier fit. Of course, you could always find them on store racks too. However they come into your life, I think you’ll enjoy styling them in your own unique way. Keep scrolling for some inspiration.

At the end of the day, the style of jean shorts you shouldn’t forget are the ones that make you feel best. However, I’d bet money that the Bermuda style is an all-around winner, with its loose shape ideally suited for warm summer days. Once you have your pair in hand, turn to us to find the matching blouses, tees, sneakers, boots, and accessories to accompany it.
